My moon's in Cancer 12th house and I've always read that I'm super into caring about others and have a motherly streak and all that, but I've never felt like that? In fact, I'm terrified of permanent things (like having children) and taking care of others (I've worked in health care) only drains my energy. It feels so not right.

I wonder why Cancer is always linked to the home & family/protection&safety? There must be something more to Cancer than that only? Any thoughts? x

Not in the 12th house.

Natal Moon in the 12th House:

The Twelfth House often seems to eat up the planets that are housed within it; it’s not that you don’t have the energy of that planet, it just appears that way on the outside. Twelfth House Moons often come across as people who aren’t very emotional and have a hard time expressing themselves. You can seem emotionally shy and don’t give in the outward displays of emotion. Behind closed doors, with people you’re comfortable with or when you’re alone, you may seem completely different (especially if you have a fire or water Moon). That’s when you let your guard down, though for many with this placement, you may only be able to do this when you’re alone, and may feel quite misunderstood as a result. Most are very insecure, and need to surround themselves with a lot of supportive people, otherwise they may easily become victims. You are pretty sensitive, and you care a great deal about people, even if you have a hard time showing that. Some may use that to work in a field helping others, usually through the medical field or through charitable work. You likely feel best in solitude, away from the world, going over your own internal workings. This placement is usually very spiritually inclined, and can be quite interested in the metaphysical.

Long story short, it's not a great place to have your moon, even worse if its a water sign, and you get the short end of the stick astrologically speaking.

Sorry (

I do relate to the 12th house! My chiron is there, in conjunction with the moon. My sun is Sagittarius and rising Leo, so I feel a lot less sensitive than what a moon Cancer suggests. Though I'm sensitive of course, I've just grown stronger from it and become a lot more sturdy with the years.

I know Mars is my dominant planet, and I have moon trine Pluto, which highly resonnated with me. It had something to do with thriving on challenges and that I feel more alive when experiencing intense emotions, which is really true! I feel I can control which feeling to be in at any given time, and love to feel the different moods of music, movies, friends, etc.
