Last night, I dreamt that I was falling into an abyss. At first, it was a little frightening but then I realized the abyss looked pretty colorful and I've been falling a long time so I started enjoying the sensation. That fact alerted me that I was dreaming. This is the 3rd time I've ever experienced knowing that I'm in a dream and able to 'will' myself to continue on with it.

The 1st time was a dream where it seems to span years of a life in one dream but I was unable to continue on with the dream (maybe coz it's the very first attempt ever for me).

The 2nd one was 'induced' where I hired someone to put me in that state and I was able to do it somewhat successfully (but I say 'somewhat' because it was not automatic).

Then this 3rd one I was able to do it simply coz I 'willed' it.

But idk maybe it's also an effect of the fact that I'm a narcoleptic but odd thing is I usually enjoy these 'before wakefulness hallucinations' unlike most people I've heard about. Only one time it negatively affected me was when I stomped on a laptop coz of some 'scary creature' dream I had.

Yes I always used to get that where I became aware I was dreaming and then could stay in the dream, aware that it was a dream and enjoy it

I think it does physically correspond to your waking state where you are half-in, half-out of consciousness

Sleep paralysis is a close relation to that tho and that is horrible

do you constantly experience daytime sleepiness? or not really?

as for sleep paralysis, i don't think i've ever experienced it at all. maybe coz it seems unlike most people, the thought of seeing my body motionless knowing that i'm just asleep does absolutely nothing for me. why? coz i'm sure i'm alive.

hell i paid someone to put me in that half state and enjoyed it 😆😆 but now that i've accidentally found that i can do it by myself randomly, i won't be needing his services anymore. and i can just wait for it to happen again. just gotta be more careful prob with controlling myself when I'm fully-awake.

I read about this also being some kind of 'ideal state of meditation' prob coz it's supposedly the point of sleep where we're most relaxed while some say they're 'hallucinations' but i've never been drugged or under medication when these instances occurred so idk but then i'm sure not a lot of people enjoy the sensation of falling into an abyss. just glad I don't sleepwalk.

Yes, I have been able to lucid dream in the past. It’s been a while since I’ve had one like that though.

Usually it’s when something ridiculous happens that isn’t real, like once a vampire appeared and I knew it was a dream.

It can be pretty fun.

right? it always starts with: "this is ridiculous" but then that makes you feel safe and suddenly you're on board. i can't control what happens in my dreams tho, can you? i can only see it play out coz the rare times i've attempted to, i get bored and lose interest immediately. i can only will myself to stay but never author the events.

Yes, I can control it a little bit but I usually wake up soon after. Like once I had a dream that was turning into a nightmare but I realised what it was and I turned myself into Iron Man and flew away 😆 Fr fr.

maybe our dreams rely on 'suspension of disbelief' kinda like movies. i could only hold on for bit. after the abyss fall, i ended up in some bright desert landscape that looked more like a painting than actual reality.
