Well...when I went to college 10 years ago, I fucked up and didn't withdraw correctly. So, when I went back in 2009, I had to deal with 4 F's!! (young and dumb)
I now have 5 A's under my belt, raising my cumulative GPA to 3.15. My goal is to get back to my current GPA of 4.0 ASAP!

Ironic, but it took me to get to college to get straight A's!!

Really? Yours is a 3.15? Mine was 3.14, you beat me by 0.01 lol Great job. Awwwwww, you had to deal with 4 Fs? Daaammmnnn that had to suck -- only because you have to do good in like almost everything to pull your GPA up. Yeah, I have 1 bad great that I have to fix, mainly re-take the class and the grade will be replaced.

My goal right now is to get to a 3.3 -- yep, I'm taking it slow, I might be really bummed one semester and let everything go so I don't want to get my hopes up.

I hope you get that 4.0 twin 😄

I meant to say that it matters when you want to get an internship etc. But its more important to understand and remember and use what you have learnt. A good GPA does help sometimes.

Sometimes its a hindrance.

In what way(s) is it an hindrance. Now more than ever, GPA matters. Back in my days, simply passing and graduating was OK, not anymore. The are companies now, including the one I'm with that will not hire a professional staff with a GPA below 3.

Really? Uh oh ...... well, thanks for the heads up.

It was 3.7 last time I checked. Would have been higher if I had not been on so many teams. Meh, I tried.

See DK, I knew underneath all that nuttiness, there was a genius. Yes, I believed and there for you are.

I really never saw the correlation between GPA and intelligence. The only reason it was slightly above average was because I really didn't give a shit about a social life and most of the success came from an insane work ethic that I had carried over from watching too much game film and working out so much.

There is no correlation with GPA and intelligence. Its just a job well done after a semester is over and you feel good about yourself and a lot smarter when you see that 3. something on your grade report ^_^.

4.0 But I go to a Community College, so that's not saying much.

OMG, how did I miss this!

People are really hard on community colleges for some reason. I don't think it matters where you go, it's the professor whose doing the instructing -- that there is what matters. If they are hard or easy, doesn't matter, how they instruct counts in college.

Also, how you seek out your education matters too, so the fact that you have a 4.0 at a community college is just as good as if you had a 4.0 at a university as far as I'm concern 🙂 Don't know about you but there's nothing wrong with it but I know others can make it seem like that.

I went to a community college 1st, paid for school out of my pocket and didn't care ^_^.

I live outside the US so my GPA in the undergrad was 1.735, which qualified me as a Cum Laude graduate. I don't know how to convert that into US' GPA because here in our place, 1.0 is the highest grade one can get and 5.0, the lowest. Meanwhile, I have a cousin (a first-grader) in the US who got 3.9 as a GPA. Well, I guess he got the genes of our grandfather who was a valedictorian in his class...

3.78 cumulative. I go to a community college also, for pre-requisites. I'm told the standards are the same as our regional university, so I feel pretty good about that GPA! I'm in my third year (because I've been half-time for the most part). It certainly hasn't been a walk in the park. Well, just the math part hasn't been. The rest is pretty cake for me. What makes everything even more difficult is raising a small child at the same time. Luckily I have family support and a lot of drive and determination to succeed.

I actually think GPA does somewhat reflect on intelligence, but it goes beyond just intelligence. It also has to do with maturity and dedication. Without all three, a student is pretty unlikely to earn a high GPA. I'm trying to qualify for nursing school, and I have no option but to take my studies very seriously, apply my intelligence and never slack. Good job to all my fellow students out there!
