I'm having such a difficult time deciding what color to dye my hair. I have medium brown curly hair. It's medium length. I've had golden highlights for about 4 years. It was beautiful! I loved my golden hair so much. But I'm so tired of blonde hair,it's very damaging too. I want something different. I don't know if I should go ombre or dark brown like almost black.
I have a pale face and I personally really love black hair against a pale face I think it's so cool and mysterious. For example, Ariel winter, Katy Perry, Haifa Wehbe, Megan Fox...
What are your opinions on dark and blonde hair?
How do you decide which hair style to do...

i was thinking to go dark brown with a purple tint in it.. hm idk, maybe. im just scared that im going to miss my goldie locks 😢
im curious what people associate hair colors with. for some reason i have always associated blonde hair with innocence and beauty. dark brown and black hair i have always associated with being mysterious, maybe more mature, smart, interesting.. i know its a stereotype but its just what we are programmed to think..

also, calling all hair stylist, is dying your hair black just as damaging at blonde? or nah?

I've had violet highlights done before, and while pretty, it faded into this weird greyish-lavender color within a week, so that's something to consider.

Anyway, it's always easier and less damaging when you go from light to dark because your stylist can apply the color directly over your hair without having to bleach it. Like if you were to dye a yellow shirt black, all you have to do is dip it into the dye (with black being so overpowering & saturated), whereas if it were black to begin with, you can imagine the reverse process being much more difficult to achieve.

Also, dark colors reflect more light particles, which will make your hair appear more shiny and healthy. Notice how black hair always looks a lot silkier than blonde? But between dark brown and black, I would go with black, just because it will eventually fade into dark brown anyway.

if you have a pretty face, do whatever you want, you'll be still hot.
lol, true to a certain extent. Obviously, if you have nice features, an ugly haircut isn't going to render you unattractive. But if, for instance, your eye color is your favorite feature, then you may want to play it up, and consider a hair color that will complement or accentuate that aspect.

The neat thing about experimenting with hair is that it'll grow back, so even if you don't like the end result, you'll always have the option to change it again.

That's exactly where I was going with this post. I have a round head and flat face like Miley Cyrus, I have a slight pale face and light brown eyes. My natural hair color is a dull medium brown, it's also naturally curly. What color do you think will suit me the best considering my features, and also complementing my eyes?

maybe a chestnut brown, or even like a dark honey blonde.....what is your natural base colour? btw what products do you use to die your hair? Senus is really good quality..Italian products are popping at the moment. Igora used to be good, but they went bankrupt.

You mean highlights? Low lights are for those who have light colored hair and looking to add darker streaks.

Hmm, with light brown eyes and fair skin, I would maybe go for a medium copper brown with some subtle honey blonde highlights. The medium brown copper tones will bring out the gold in your eyes and add warmth to your complexion. Highlights will add some dimension.

So something like this?

Fleshpot, the pictures you sent me are gorgeous. The first girl has the same color hair that I have now. I want to go a little darker, maybe just one shade darker or maybe two shades darker and get low lights. Also, I am, I wanna say, one shade lighter than the model in the first photo (skin color). Do you think if I go any darker it will be too dark for my pale face? I also have the same eye color as the model in the first photo, light brown but in super bright lighting they look hazel. My mom has hazel eyes and my dad has brown. So my eyes look both hazel and light brown depending on lighting.

Thank you for your comments you are being a lot of help to me.

I think you'll be fine. Honestly, light brown or hazel eyes look great with any hair color. If you are concerned about looking washed out, stick with dark shades that have a warm (red or golden) undertone.

I wouldn't be too worried, since, like I mentioned earlier, dark colors will gradually lighten, so it's more important to pay attention to the undertones, as that's what will remain once the color fades.
