i've written some things.... but just for fun or to get out those feelings that we can't shed from time to time. i have considered it, but lack the confidence, tbth.

You should 🙂 .. why are you lacking confidence, you`re an intelligent lady, you are interesting too.. start by keeping a journal, if you was going to write a book, what would it be about?

thanks, Gucci.... 🙂 probably about common sense. lol! i don't know... i have many ideas... just getting it out of my head and on to "paper" is the hardest part. 🙂

i'm a writer but i don't like giving advice, so i'll try and keep it brief.

always have a pen and paper with you so when inspiration comes your way, no matter how small, you can write it down. this is the most important thing. building the inspiration database. mine took nearly 20 years to fill sufficiently to write my book.

only write if you are compelled to write. don't to it because you think it might be cool or for fame or money or even a dream. do it because you have something to say and share with the world and because you can't not do it. you simply must do it - it is your raison d'?tre. this same advice is often given to actors and singers - simply because the odds are so highly stacked against you succeeding from the outset.

organise well. don't worry too much. write now. refine on the fly and refine more later. if something doesn't add to a story, it detracts from it.

see it in your head before you write it down. live it, breathe it, feel it, every single moment of it - then what comes out should be fully formed. if it doesn't make you laugh, make you cry, drive you to despair or fill your heart, then there's probably not much point in going any further.

but a writer can do all these things. even if he can't at the beginning, he can by the end - because he has no other choice. it's his curse and his gift.

by all means, write for fun. but to be a succesful (or famous) writer, you need determination and a calling.

one of the biggest challenges to writing is often starting. you see the mountain ahead and think - how will i ever climb that? well, believe me - all mountains are climbable. you just have to put one foot in front of the other and begin. keep plodding on and one day, you'll look around and see the view behind you. and it is a magnificent one. (i actually began my novel whilst walking up the stairs. i sat down 2/3 of the way up and began writing. 2 hours later, it was dark and i had 7 or 8 pages!)

to quote a tv episode (dream on) - "a writer finishes things ... that's what separates him from any old cretin with a pen."

good luck. bon chance. break a leg. and all that.

oh, i guess that wasn't so brief, after all. my bad!
