Venus in Gemini... why's it horrible?

Hello I'm a brand new poster, been reading this site a while though πŸ™‚

I noticed there's a lot of hate for folks with venus in Gemini.... Sadly I have that placement lol I'm generally attracted to men who are somewhat shy but intelligent and eloquent, and I enjoy having real conversations with men I'm seeing about any interesting topic (instead of just looking deeply into each other's eyes silently like one man I've dated preferred!). But I definitely don't think I'm fickle or unfaithful at all when I like someone. In fact if I know I'm very interested in a man and would like to someday date him exclusively, I would not even look at any other men.

I'd love to hear more about venus in Gemini, whether you have that placement or you've dated someone with it πŸ™‚

I have Venus in Gemini too and agree it has a pretty bad reputation.
Mine is conjunct my moon and falls in my 7th house though so maybe that helps way it down and make it more serious.

Personally I love commitement and certainly don't jump around relationships. I will admit to having varied interests, getting bored of people easily sometimes and finding plenty of people attracive on a superficial or purely physical level. But I know that stuff about me so I know the difference between really wanting to be with someone and whether it's a fleeting attraction so I wait to see if it lasts and whether that person holds my interest and then I'm completely commited.

My friend also has this position however I think it shows more in her chart the way it's described on astrology sites. She always has many interests and would be willing to go for any of them. She also makes quite superficial or fickle comments on relationships and seems quite swayed by outer attractiveness and puts all of her interests on the same level whereas I would feel the urge to make it clear if I only liked someone physically and wouldn't do anything with them.

I have a little theory that your least aspected planet shows through quite strongly because so few of your other planets have an influence on it and her least aspected by far is her venus in gemini.

I don't think it's horrible at all. You've really got to look at the rest of the chart as well. Anyone can be fickle and unfaithful if they choose to be. I do believe though that the significant other MUST be communicative, otherwise the attraction probably won't even exist in the first place. But this can be said with others who do not have this placement. For instance, I have Venus in Taurus who supposedly places physicality above pretty much anything else.. and that's not true at all, I value a mental connection first and foremost. I have Aquarius in the 7th house and Mercury in Gemini so that pretty much explains it. I believe Venus in Gem can be more prone to the negative things that is said about it I.E cheating, being fickle, avoiding commitment V.S the other signs.. but it most certainly doesn't mean that the person with this placement WILL behave like that. All our signs have negative traits along with positive ones, must never forget that πŸ™‚ And once again, the whole chart and also it's aspects will give a much more accurate picture on whether the particular person in question is more prone to the negative traits of this placement.

I definitely agree with you about the significant other having to be communicative, but I find myself to be extremely uncommunicative.... In social situations I could be very talkative (I have mercury in Gemini as well) but I pretty much hate talking about the touchy feely stuff in relationships. I prefer to talk about books and movies and childhood memories rather than my feelings, even though in my head my feelings (and a billion random tangents) are driving me mad! I wonder if this is characteristic of venus in Gem as well?

Also my friend noted I behave much more like a water sign when in a relationship from the thoughts I share with her - the touchy feely thoughts I'll tell her but not my man. I think I'm just generally confused when in love, but who isn't πŸ™‚ Here's my chart (I don't feel like an earthy, grounded Taurus at all!!)

sun Taurus
moon Pisces
mercury Gemini
venus Gemini
mars Aquarius
rising... either Cancer or Scorpio

That's exactly me! Here: http://www.dxpnet.com/opinion/message/?id=1861473

Basically what you just said about being able to share random things in your life but your deepest, innermost feelings you don't share as readily. Maybe it is Venus in Gem, however I thought maybe it was that whole "not being able to express my feelings-YES, I am a Taurus" syndrome. πŸ˜› Because I am the same way, even without Venus in Gem. However since we do tend to intellectualise our feelings (Mercury) rather than feel them, maybe that darn Gemini is the problem! I find it hard to let myself go in that category as well. And I hear you on the billion random tangents.. I have a love/hate thing going on with that, hehe.

That Pisces is definitely the culprit for your (lack of a better word) wateryness in relationships, along with your Rising sign I bet. I find that the moon sign is overlooked regarding relationships in comparision to the venus/mars signs.. but whatever planet to be aroused when we FEEL, but emotions and feelings itelf.. the MOON? Like hey now πŸ™‚ I know my Aries moon peeks out it's head everytime I feel that love buzz.

I read the post you quoted and YES I'm exactly the same way! Wow I didn't know this was characteristic of Taureans. I guess I do have some Taurus in me then πŸ™‚ I just get so tongue tied whenever I have to talk about my FEELINGS, even when my water moon and rising are making sure I have plenty of them.

Haha, though I could use a filter on my mind, I still think mercury in Gem is grand! Gives me plenty of other things to talk about than my feelings so as to avoid awkward silences! I hate small talk even with new acquaintances lol

Hi CancerKitten, could you explain what you mean by "least aspected planet"? I'm very much new to the study of astrology πŸ™‚

No problem.
It's quite simple to do it vaguely.
All you do it count how many aspects each of your planets/signs has. Conjunctions (the same sign), opposites, trines (the same element), sextiles (45 degree angle) and squares (90 degree angle). If you're not sure of them you can easily find a zodiac wheel image on google. Sometimes it's easier to view them like that.
I'll show you with my chart.

Sun - Cancer
Moon - Gemini
Merc - Cancer
Venus - Gem
Mars - Cancer
Jupiter - Aries
Saturn - Sag
Urnaus - Sag
Neptune - Cap
Pluto - Scorpio

My jupiter is my most aspected planet becasue it forms a strong aspect to almost every planet in my chart. Square sun, merc, mars and neptune. Trine Saturn and Uranus. Sextile moon and venus. The only planet it doesn't have strong aspect to is my Scorpio Pluto. And I very much do feel like that Arian desire to be first and do things my own way (as well as doing things alone) filters into almost everything I do.

My Pluto in Scorpio however hardly has stron aspect to anything. It trines my sun, mercury and mars and sextiles my neptune but that's it and these are all easy flowing aspects too. I've always wondered why I related to well to Scorpios and felt so much like one in so many ways and this is the only explanation I can find.

Of course this is only a vague theory I have.

my boyfriend (a gemini) has venus in gemini too and he's not fickle. granted he's a taurus rising and his whole natal chart is earth sign dominated but his gemini qualities are still very prominent. he pursued me shamelessly and made it official quite soon. what i like the best is that ive never once felt in the dark or confused about where we stand or how he feels about me. he's a much better communicator than i am and he talks to me, even about the little stuff. i never have to pry information out of him or hint at topics or ask where he's been or what he's been doing because it's just part of his normal day to day chit chat. our relationship was very lighthearted for the first 8 months or so and it got much deeper after that. even though his gemini venus isn't known for being patient i think it helped that we are on the same level of maturity and didn't feel pressured to open up too quick or on one persons time table (im venus in taurus, quite slower than venus in gemini lol but my preference to open up slow and his preference of keeping it light until he's sure worked out in our case). even though we're both done with college we always take random classes at the JC together each semester and we stay very active...all things a venus in gemini values πŸ™‚

I have Venus and Mercury in Gemini. I am VERY fickle with men. The slightest thing turns me totally off. It's horrible. I am so hard on men its rediculous. They don't know it, but i am. I found one though, that just the thought, sight, sound or smell of him turns me on like i'm obsessed with him internally. i dont' like shy men. I have to have that over confident, but not arrogant personality to keep me interested. If you are boring, forget about it.

In relationships, i'm very faithful if you keep my mind going. As i have grown up though, i don't cheat, ever. I'm woman enough to tell you i'm done before i move on.
