My advice to you, Pat, DON'T give it too much thought. You've really discovered in your own psyche what I believe is a typical Leo trait, a cold relational disconnect at the soul level with generalized humanity. This also affects people who pass through our lives but fail to meet the requirements for deeper friendship which Leos are extremely instinctual at gauging. Hard-wired into our subconscious is the ringing motto that if someone is going to be given full card-carrying membership into our super-complex lives, they'd better be prepared to pass the very rigid subliminal vetting process that forms a natural part of every Leos recruitment protocol of friends, lovers, and loyal subjects. To cut through all this, Pat, remember that true love is THE DAILY CONSCIOUS DECISION TO SEND GOOD THOUGHTS AND TO ADDRESS GOOD DEEDS TO OUR FELLOW BEINGS whether they deserve it or not. When it really comes down to it, it's undoubtedly something we do for our selves and our soul-harmony with the cosmos. True love is NOT by any means the dewy eyed, fuzzy, peurile and forever morphing emotional state of popular imagination; you know the kind of stuff we keep getting accosted with by the pernicious mind-shapers of Hollywood. Try and allow yourself to grow out of that silly notion and embrace a more solid phylosophical basis for true and lasting relationships. Strive to achieve this, and be kind and patient with yourself in the meantime. There's absolutely nothing wrong with you short of a few growth pains which you'll eventually grow out of with time and positive self-awareness.
