I believe this is something worth sharing, since I do a lot of it. To me writing is the purest form of communication to reveal a lot of what is going on with in your inner self. Free flowing to me is the soul projecting what's hidden , what you don't want to reveal openly to yourself so you tuck it away to not think of the emotions.
No matter my mood; I write; I usually do it while listening to music(classical, mostly violins and cello) I don't think of what in going to write about; I just take a deep breath; exhale and let my mind and heart open up and translate all that is up above in my head on paper. Once I'm done I either put my note book away of read it for reflection. I don't insert anything( do correct spelling).
Once I've let go of that chapter or current emotion in my life, I always revisit my writing and read it to myself, and it does make me cry or smile to re-read what was shattered or whole at the time.

Does anyone do healing through writing? Or reflect on day to day life and write it down on paper?
Do you believe that this form of release can help you heal from a broken heart, or help you discover you again?

Since a child my escape; my release and rebirth has always been through writing. It comforts me a lot. I'm not one to out right say how I feel; emotionally if I'm extremely hurt. Lately however, I've been getting better at it. Before I would shut down; walk in to my little place of peace and quit and write, write and cry. Crying to me also helps release Whats so harbored inside of us.
I decided to share this; because sometime's when not on DXP trying to find hope; one can do it through just writing, this helps with the art of moving on and letting go. If you are in to other forms of art; playing instruments; painting; whatever it may be explore it; to explore what's going in inside you.

Similar but more painting and drawing than writing unless it's specifically something I want to get across in the form of writing like a passive aggressive piece of poetry that is so vague even I wouldn't know what I was writing about a day later but it sounds good.

I've always found the arts to be very cathartic. I've never mentioned it on here, but I'm a musician.

What kind of music you okay(genre?)
Music was always in my home; didn't matter the occasion my mom always blasted the radio, I like every genre to be honest. Oldies as well, blues and jazz. Spanish music from the old times , I love to sing, it's a hobby of mine.

A large portion of my heartbreak a few years back was eased through writing and music, I started a thread about it in the virgo forum because writing is so important to how I communicate.

Writing to me is a form of communication for me as well; it's why I'm pushing to finish my novel and then publish it. It's a process though; but one I'm willing to go through in order to share my gift with many.

Writing is definitely therapeutic

That's not just an opinion. There are actual studies/research that confirms that

Not everybody is good at expressing themselves through verbal words. Some people have thoughts that are so jumbled up together that they make no sense when they try spitting them out in a way that the other person understands them as much as you understand yourself what you were trying to say.

Plus, writing is another form of "release." A lot of people feel they can't speak their minds. They feel like they are not "heard." So they write b/c even though their audience is themselves, AT LEAST someone or something is allowing them to get their thoughts out. And when you're about to explode with thoughts, a piece of paper & a pencil will do & are good enough of an audience for the moment lol

I sometimes write out things that I want to say to someone. Almost like I rehearse certain things that I plan on saying. Why? B/c it keeps me away from the distraction of tone, & other factors that may deter me from saying what I needed to say. It keeps me on track & reminds me to stick to the point so I don't run the risk of freezing up or allowing someone to deflect from the REAL things I wanted to say =)

But for others, writing is the last resort to communication. They're much more articulate with their thoughts. Their thoughts are much more organized, & therefore are easier to speak about in a way/manner that allows the other person to hear what you're saying the way you intended them to

That's why some people are great authors & others should probably leave the writing stuff to others lol

I'm both jealous of those who are excellent writers AND those who don't need to write things out b/c they are more articulate with verbal words (like motivational speakers, for example)

Plus when you're writing, it's just YOU in the moment.

No one is there to distract you. No one is there to cut you off or interrupt you.
No one is there to get you off track with your feelings.

And most people don't have that. For most people, when they try verbally speaking their feelings/thoughts, it just leaves room for others to interrupt, criticize or tune out, whereas writing kind commands your attention in the same way that a firm voice does

I do write to get my thoughts in order; there are many reasons why I do it. Form of escape; reflect; hobby; and so on. I read a lot; and that sort of god me hooked to writing as well. Then I noticed writing also helped me heal and sort out confusing that stemmed from my head and my inner self. I noticed early on that I had a talent for writing; when I wrote poetry for school and my teacher encourged me to enter writing contest and short story contest....and I just feel in love with how much my imagination pushed the envelope; I was creating dream worlds; and sharing what was in my head with others. I love to touch people with my writing, to transport them to a different world where they can find escape even if it's for a couple of minutes. I give bits and pieces of myself in my writing.
I love that feeling.
