Hello all,

It is 2015 and my goal for this year is to have new experiences. My wish is to go against my instincts (within reason) in an effort to get new places I otherwise wouldn't. I have a desire to get my nose pierced. I plan to get my right nostril pierced. I am going to my local tattoo shop because the mall only offered piercing with a gun and I refuse to allow that to happen because the general consensus is that guns cause impact damage to the cartilage. The shop piercer is a professional and insists on using his own metal posts. Due to my sensitivity and allergies, he assured me that the entire point of his strictness is that his screw-posts are made of surgical steel. Later, after I heal, I can switch to whatever I'd like, in which case I plan to wear something similar to this but L-shaped: http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/2f/e5/f6/2fe5f6ca8665223734c596f86b19bbff.jpg<BR> I plan to also get my earlobes re-pierced as they've closed.

My questions are: if you have a nose, what did you do to ensure it did not get infected throughout the healing process? Any advice, warnings, or tips? Was the process seamless to you? What were the pain-levels like both during the piercing process and after?

What are you thoughts on nose piercings on women? Are you considering getting one yourself if you do not already have one?

I am very excited and I look forward to seeing a different side of myself. 🙂

I currently have a healing nose piercing. I got it done about a week and a half ago. I work for a security company where you cannot have any facial piercings (including oral piercings)but I never been one to follow the rules.

I have an 18 gauge stainless steel nose screw. I want to replace it with an l-shaped one once it heals. Preferably gold cause I wear alot of that. I actually had to go back to the piercer and have him replace my piercing with a clear bioplast retainer. He has to go through the hole again with a needle because the bioplast retainer is bendable, but flimsy.

My process is soaking it twice a day in a shotglass filled with warm sea salt water. At times, I even blow out into the shotglass to make sure the water it's hitting the piercing. After that, I get a cotton swab or cotton ball and I go around the piercing (inside and outside the nostril) and clean any excess stuff off of it. I also use shea butter on my face instead of lotion until it's healed.

As far as pain level, it didn't hurt. It felt like a pinch. I did tear up, but only because it seems to be a natural reaction when someone is messing with your nose. After that, it feels sore as if you've been blowing your nose alot. At the moment, it feels fine but I know that it's not healed. Lol!

I believe both men and women look good with nose piercings. I prefer studs over rings though. For me, it's more of a cultural thing. All the other body piercings I have (navel, standard tongue ring, nipples and snake eyes tongue ring) were more for aesthetics.

All in all, Go for it! I'll bet you'll look awesome with it. :-)
