Imagine it's summer, or spring, or hey, even fall. If you were going to take the *ideal* road trip, what sort of music would you compile and take with you? What kind of music would you want to blast with the top down? If you're like me, and don't have the kind of car with a top that comes down (you poor bastard, lol), what kind of music would you wanna blast with the windows down?
My list (probably going to be wildly varied and very weird):
Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard (Simon & Garfunkel)
Take It Easy (The Eagles)
Mr. Blue Sky (Electric Light Orchestra--thank you jackbutter...)
Good Times, Bad Times (Led Zeppelin)
Black Dog (Led Zeppelin)
Misty Mountain Hop (Led Zeppelin)
Over The Hills And Far Away (Led Zeppelin)
D'yer Mak'er (Led Zeppelin)
The Ocean (Led Zeppelin)
Custard Pie (Led Zeppelin)
Houses Of The Holy (Led Zeppelin)
Purple Haze (Jimi Hendrix)
Trampled Underfoot (Led Zeppelin)
The Wanton Song (Led Zeppelin)
Black Country Woman (Led Zeppelin)
Sick Again (Led Zeppelin)
And & $ % #@!...I'd list more Zep songs if I actually owned the Presence, In Through The Out Door and Coda albums.
my brother and I used to have a collection of "TRAIL MIX" songs... Including songs by Greatful Dead, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, and some othe people...
I'm still thinking.. I keep coming back to National Lampoon's Holiday Road, by Lindsay Buckingham. (I'd start with that one anyway.. as he backs out of driveway... )
that's great. i like it list. but i see u like classic rock. southren rock as people say i would have to say that u need though a good country music in there too. and maybe a really good entergatic classical music.
Good Country Music: "Witchy Woman", by the Eagles.
I will get back to you on "entergatic classical music" when you tell me what entergatic means. lol. I'm sure it's either supposed to say, "energetic" or "intergalactic", but I can't respond until sure. 😛
I changed my mind, about my country song. I love "Witchy Woman", but it's not one of their more country-ish songs. Instead I'm going with "Lying Eyes". However, that song depresses me to a level that can barely be expressed in the English language. Usually songs don't affect me so much, but I really...really hate the idea of the lovers, and then she's cheating...stupid cookiemonster...lol..."heading for the cheating side of town"....ugh
Uhm.. , < psst > .. Eagles ain't country.. by a mile. Sorry, somebody had to tell ya, you all.. ya'll. Country is .. "Bocephus".. Hank Williams Jr. and all that crewe.
I think I heard Eagles music qualified as Southern California rock and lynyrd skynyrd is Southern Rock... hmmmm.... You want to get more of a country influence I would go for the Greatful Dead... They have Blue Grass roots...
I think everybody has differing opinions around here about what country can be. Interesting. Nobody's really right or wrong, though. Just differing perspectives.
(Phoenix to Boxing Gloves from 0 to 60 in .5 seconds..) wow! Ok, I'd thought to say the Eagles were Southern Rock, but that hadn't sounded right to my ears either. S.R. (to us down heyah..) Is.. Skynard, Greg Allman/Ramblin' Man, etc. I heard Morgan's California Rock definition, and have to admit it sounds alot closer to what I'd call it. Your points that Elvis "sang" some gospel and other bands can do more than one genre .. cleared that up for me as well. (I like Bad Company btw.. and no idea "what" they are.)
i think it does matter on the generes. but u can have cross over ablumbs and songs and stuff or just simple the artist them sleves.I think it's really good if someone can sing many different generes i.e. Willie Nelson. Elivis sang co, rock, gosepel. I mean u have to look an entire carrer not one ablum. sweet home song i love, but i wish ky. had a song like that. but i have to say i love that song very much it makes me think of home.
Wanna tell you about the girl I love My she looks so fine She's the only one that I been dreamin' of Maybe someday she will be all mine I wanna tell her that I love her so I thrill with her every touch I need to tell her she's the only one I really love
I got a woman, wanna ball all day I got a woman, she won't be true, no I got a woman, stay drunk all the time I said I got a little woman and she won't be true
Sunday morning when we go down to church See the menfolk standin' in line I said they come to pray to the Lord With my little girl, looks so fine In the evening when the sun is sinkin' low Everybody's with the one they love I walk the town, Keep a-searchin' all around Lookin' for my street corner girl
I got a woman, wanna ball all day I got a woman, she won't be true, no no I got a woman, stay drunk all the time I said I got a little woman and she won't be true
In the bars, with the men who play guitars Singin', drinkin' and rememberin' the times My little lover does a midnight shift She followed around all the time I guess there's just one thing a-left for me to do Gonna pack my bags and move on my way Cause I got a worried mind Sharin' what I thought was mine Gonna leave her where the guitars play
I got a woman, she won't be true, no no I got a woman, wanna ball all day I got a woman, stay drunk all the time I got a little woman and she won't be true
(Hey hey what can I do)
I said she won't be true
(Hey Hey, What can I say?)
Hey hey, what can I do I got a woman, she won't be true Lord, hear what I say I got a woman, wanna ball all day
Another great potential road trip song, fun to blast really loud, etc:
I Got A Name - Jim Croce
Like the pine trees lining the winding road I've got a name, I've got a name Like the singin' bird and the croakin' toad I've got a name, I've got a name And I carry it with me like my daddy did But I'm livin' the dream that he kept hid
Movin' me down the highway, rollin' me down the highway Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by
Like the North wind whistlin' down the sky I've got a song, I've got a song Like the whippoorwill and the babies' cry I've got a song, I've got a song And I carry it with me and I sing it loud If it gets me nowhere, I go there proud
Movin' me down the highway, rollin' me down the highway Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by
And I'm gonna go there free... Like the fool I am and I'll always be I've got a dream, I've got a dream They can change their minds but they can't change me I've got a dream, I've got a dream And I know I can share it if you want me to If you're goin' my way, I'll go with you
Movin' me down the highway, rollin' me down the highway Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by Movin' me down the highway, rollin' me down the highway Movin' ahead so life won't pass me by
In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina Can't you see the sunshine Can't you just feel the moonshine Ain't it just like a friend of mine To hit me from behind Yes I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind
Karen she's a silver sun You best walk her way and watch it shinin' Watch her watch the mornin' come A silver tear appearing now I'm cryin' Ain't I goin' to Carolina in my mind
There ain't no doubt in no ones mind That loves the finest thing around Whisper something soft and kind And hey babe the sky's on fire, I'm Dyin' Ain't I goin' to Carolina in my mind
In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina Can't you see the sunshine Can't you just feel the moonshine Maybe just like a friend of mine It hit me from behind Yes I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind
Dark and silent late last night I think I might have heard the highway calling Geese in flight and dogs that bite Signs that might be omens say I going, going I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind
With a holy host of others standing 'round me Still I'm on the dark side of the moon And it seems like it goes on like this forever You must forgive me If I'm up and gone to Carolina in my mind
In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina Can't you see the sunshine Can't you just feel the moonshine Maybe just like a friend of mine It hit me from behind Yes I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind

She has this song; I don't believe it was ever released to radio stations. It's called Serve The Ego, and it's very prolific (yet simple). I like it a lot. Kind of interesting the way it addresses the actual disco era and the "me" generation of the 197
Look at me, my depth perception must be off again 'Cause this hurts deeper than I thought it did It has not healed with time It just shot down my spine You look so beautiful tonight
it's a choir music. and it's long. but really good. to but it in non-musical trems as to the way it goes. u've seen a baptist sermon it's like that slow, climax and slow decline. it's really good. I'm a tenor. ttul
i just got a CD from an uncle/cousin person and he said it was good odd and tribal in a different language so I just put it on the other day and OMG it is sooo good!
I think the language is Italian and the music is sort of a mix between Enya
What are your favorite songs that sort of define your teenage years? Sometimes I hear something on the radio and I think, "oh my gosh, I remember exactly what was going on in my life and how old I was when that was popular". But I definitely have favori

is anyone else out there obsessed with music from this decade? I think it's one of the best decades in music history. And I love disco. I also love all the folk songs, like anything by james taylor, carole king, carly simon, the list goes on.

too all that listen to all kinds of music including some hard rock the new linkin park cd is out and so far it is intense and pretty damn passionate with their art and music.
I really like most of their stuff, but I have like three or four or five very favorite songs that I am very partial to. Their voices are beautiful...did you know they were born either on the same day or one day apart? And they're both scorpios, which is
I heard this on some commercial for a car--then I looked it up and found out it's been done by a bunch of singers. Rod Stewart being one of them (dork alert, but it's still a kickass song)!
So, I'm obsessed with this new song they have out called "Seven Nation Army" or something like that. But I can't find the lyrics to it anywhere, not even on the band's website. Can someone help me out? I'd really like to know what the guy is saying. I
