In Western Tropical Astrology, Zodiac signs are no longer tied specifically to their constellation on the ecliptic because of the wobble of the earth that we call precession. Instead the constellations are seen as a mnemonic device to remember parts of the mythology and characteristics of each zodiac sign. There are a few myths involving Pisces and they involve Aphrodite (Venus) and her child Eros (Cupid). The Constellation is supposed to be Aphrodite and Eros tethered together after being transformed into fish to escape Typhoon. Typhoon was supposedly so ugly and vicious that he scared even the Olympians. None of the Olympians could defeat Typhoon alone. Some say that Aphrodite and Eros fled Typhoon by turning into fish and swimming away, another account speaks of two fish saving Aphrodite and Eros by leading them to safety. No matter which myth you prefer, the fish were hung in the sky to symbolize love and beauty being saved for mankind and the Gods.
