Using your sign as an excuse?

I often hear people use their Sun sign to explain their negative behaviour (e.g. I drink alot, do drugs, lie etc because I m a typical pisces). It really bothers me cause I think people should face up to their negatives and aknowledge that it's their own fault not their sun sign. Any input is welcome!

I think Pisces is a sign with no excuse. After all, it holds all 12 signs before them. This kinda forces them to be fair.

As for using my sign as an excuse...

I used to do this...but now I go where my interest shows. Sign can cry.

The signs, aspects, transits do not compel us to act in any way.

It is not because a person was born in a certain sign that they exhibit certain qualities attributed to that sign, but rather that they acted in a way in a past life which put them in that category for this life. It is fully each person's responsibility for how they act, astrology can not take away free will.

The definition of the word excuse - an excuse is nothing but a well planned lie.

My friend called me up last night, and made some very stupid comment about being a Piscean I wanted to run to her house and hit her with her phone. She had the nerve to use her sign as an excuse - which is my sign too and I don't and would NEVER do the things she does. It really pisses me off. Why use astrology to validate bad traits.

because it is easy and if one can get away with it, then they will continue to use it.

I do try to focus on my faults, but the fact is, that there are certain things in my personality that are difficult to change, and are part of me, the fact that these happen to match my sun sign, coincidence? Either way, at some point, my excuse will always be that's just the way I am, not necessarily for bad behaviour, but certainly when I am off with the fairies.

I can see your point, Skin, but would you still use the fact that you are a pisces to justify those certain negative things you are struggling with? There are thousands of people out there of your sign who do not have that negative trait.. and there are also thousands of people out there of a different sign who DO.

I guess, what I m trying to say is that, I hate it if people use their sun sign (knowing that actually what we are is at the end determined by our own choices, experiences etc.) to justify their negative behavior. My friend for example is known for being a notorious liar and she doesn't feel the need to change cause she justifies lying by it being a Pisces trait. How pathetic. She's is a liar because she chooses to be one. In other words I m against people saying " Im a Pisces (or Cancer, Gemini.. whatever) so it's ok for me to lie, be a slut, manipulative, agressive, pushy or anything else thats negative.

I think people will use any excuse if they have something they don't want to face, whether it's astrology or something else.

Using the example of becoming addicted, I do have these tendencies, but I use this knowledge to 'avoid' developing habits, such as gambling etc and try to keep balance in my life. Blaming it on my sun sign just means I don't want to deal with it, and has nothing to do with the purpose of astrology.

In the same way you can't make a sweeping statement about a sign and expect everyone to fall into the generalisation. Most of the time we are discussing general stereotypes, used for understanding a person, or how to approached them is great, but not hiding behind or to manipulate people.

I don't use astrology as an excuse for any negative traits, I use it as traits to be aware of or avoid - so I management them. But they are there, and they do match the outline of a Pisces.

I think I will extend this a bit on different level.

Astrology helps us to understand human weakness. Wether you have them or not, it's an information to you. You might carry weakness of your sign, but you might also carry weakness of other signs too. Just because you dealth with your weakness according to your own sign, it doesnt mean you dealt with all of them. Therefore astrology here is an source of "information" and it is not something to be identified with. When a person identifies with their particular sing, they close their mind to other possibilities. This is foolish.

That why I say, Pisceans has little chance for excuse. They carry all 12 signs and they have to ideantify with all of them wether they belive in astrology or not.lol.
