A young couple is away on holiday. They have a roommate, so the house wasn't left alone. The roommate is usually away on Saturday nights, but, this night, since the couple was away, he decided to stay home ... got in the shower.
Upon exiting the shower, he finds the married mother of the female roommate doing "it" on the couch .. with someone who was not the female roommates father.
Couple comes home, roommate tells the female roommate that he caught her mother cheating on her father .. so, now, not only was the mother being disloyal to the husband, the daughter has been involved, since it was her house and she knows.
What should she do?
Should she tell her father that her mother was cheating and deal with the mothers wrath?
Or, keep silent ... so when the father finds out, AND finds out that the daughter KNEW .. deal with his wrath?
The people who this happened to (the young couple) called me today and said it happened and they wanted to know what to do. How do you answer a question like that?
You're damned one way ... you're damned the other. You love parents equally right, so wtf?
If I were the roommate, I would have kept my mouth shut also, however, he told.
My original thought to these kids (young adults), was what you said, just keep to their own business and let the chips fall where they will without further involvment. However, apparantly the husband realizes that something is amiss and is questioning his children (this female roommate) if they know what their mother is doing .. where she is sneaking off to? And with whom?
So, this girl is worried to death .... her father is asking her questions and she doesn't want to lie to him, yet, this is her mother and doesn't want to betray her either.
I have to call them back and give them some insight on what to do, and I'm unsure ... so, I thought you guys might know the right course of action.
Thanks for your input, SF. I'm leaning towards telling the girl to approach her mother, telling her that the roommate spilled the beans, and tell the mother that this has put her in a tricky and unfair situation and tell the mother to tell the husband. To say that she is going to have to tell her father what she knows, but, is giving the mother the opportunity to tell him herself .... and see what happens. That doesn't mean she has to follow through with telling her dad, but, it might make the mother own up, for fear of getting caught.
I don't know ... what do you think? Does that sound fair to daughter, mother and father equally?
I guess she thought it was safe, since the single roommate is usually gone on Saturday nights and the young couple was out of town .. so she thought the house was empty .. but, still ..
How disrespectful ... whatever happened to doing it in the backseat of the car? The house is far away, they had to drive to get there.
Archer, I don't think she meant to involve me per se ... she's just confused right now and doesn't know what to do and she knows that I will tell her straight up what I would do. As for feelings, she's experiencing that enough already and not looking for sympathy or a shoulder to cry on. She's asking for help.
Actually, I'm the one involving other people by posting it in here. But, I haven't identified them, so hopefully I'll be forgiven.
She's looking to me for the right answer and I want to be able to give it to her. I think we have all agreed .. she needs to discuss this with the mother and tell the mother that she feels disrespected and violated by the whole thing and that the mother needs to fix the issue.
