Ok so people claim that your rising sign is nothing but a mask, but doesnt it still mean that you possess the traits of the rising sign because it is what comes out of you anyway? presenting or not presenting, either way, it's still part of you. Many parts, luz, many parts.
Rising Sign Crisis
Luz, saw your post & thought of the previous one about masks. I browsed abit.. found a tidbit to share if interested: (btw.. below v sounds "reversed" doesn't it?)
The Ascendant shows us as we really are, unlike our Sun sign which represents our ego and how we would like to be.
This is most strikingly obvious if one talks about a person to someone who a casual acquaintance, and describes their character as shown by the Ascendant Sign - in the vast majority of cases, the third person cannot identify those traits as belonging to the subject at all, because Ascendant Sign traits are those that emerge only to those closest to us, and who know us really well. You may find it very revealing to see how this applies to you personally, so let's now take a quick tour through the zodiac signs to see how they behave when instead of being the Sun Sign they are the Ascendant Sign.
Sagittarius Ascendant
The need for challenge, so important in a sun sign Sagittarian, is even more important when Sagittarius rises. This placing usually brings a great deal of self confidence together with an expansive, enthusiastic demeanour which is at once charming and endearing. Able to inspire others almost as well as they can inspire themselves, those with Sagittarius rising have an objective and philosophical outlook on life, and are amongst the most broad minded folk you will ever encounter. A tendency to rush in, however, together with a great deal of restlessness, sometimes means that all that potential isn't exploited to its full. Intellectual challenge in essential to these people, both in their working and their personal lives, and a healthy amount of sexual exuberance is also necessary in a romance. Quickly bored, however, the person with Sagittarius rising is open to depression when life offers no challenge, and once in depression, they find it uncharacteristically difficult to climb out.

Technically speaking, your Rising Sign or Ascendant reflects the Zodiac sign that was ascending on the Eastern horizon at the moment you took your first breath in this world.
The Rising Sign can exert an influence almost as powerful as your Sun and Moon Signs.
..think of your Sun Sign as your soul (your inner personality and potential)
.. your Moon Sign as your heart (your emotional core)
.. then you could say your Rising Sign /your physical self (the face you present to the world).
For example, though your Sun Sign might be Taurus, your Rising Sign could very well be Gemini. While you're feeling laid-back, others will tend to see you as a ball of nervous energy and cerebral wit.
At times, your Rising Sign may act as a mask, hiding some aspect of your inner self you don't feel like revealing.

The Ascendant, ASC, or Rising Sign is often called the mask that one wears, with the attendant idea that the Rising Sign can block the qualities of the Sun and Moon, which are more authentic. I (the author)basically agree with this, but with one addition.
It is true that one's Ascendant does not run as deep as one's Sun and Moon, and one's ASC should not inhibit the expression of one's Sun and Moon, but the ASC does have some deep roots, and is more like one's face than one's mask.
The Ascendant is fundamental and vital to one's psychology, and one must integrate it positively into one's personality, as well as one's entire being.
One's face is not the core of one's being, but it cannot be taken off like a mask. The Midheaven, or MC is more like a mask that can put on and removed.
...as if the soul comes in and immediately looks to the East to determine who it is, the Rising Sign indicates a predominant quality of personality. The Rising Sign is known for influencing the physical characteristics of one's face and body (as well as the Sun in Moon, in at least my opinion),

thank you so much for that very detailed post espernaut! greatly appreciate it.
And yes, i've noticed that the rising sign is an essential guide to the person you are, i could never relate to a taurus, except for the strong willed and not a gold digger part. lol. But i would always say that i can relate to my gemini more, but then i figured now that sag's and gem's are polar oppposites but still have traits that set them alike.
I heard somewhere that your rising sign 'becomes you' as you grow older but i think i always had a feeling that your rising sign is the real you. And i guess this post informs that my thoughts were most likely true.
Espernaut, what rising sign were you again? And oh, i havent seen you around much on, well i shouldnt speak because i havent been coming here much either, but i want to know, why? 😛

I'm Capricorn rising. About not being here, I've popped in quite abit, but not all posts relate to me, or I've nothing to say to some. It's only been a few days though, hasn't it? I think there are more of us around that aren't making their presence know.

Oh i see, yeah, there hasn't been much posts which havent interested me enough to post. Either that, or i'm just too damny lazy to type my opinion.
Espernaut, would you be kind and generous enough to post my thingie too? Or have you already given mine to me?
You just seem to have the best sources EVER....I hardly EVER seem to be able to find such detailed stuff.
