People can't take jokes

There was a bit of debate over on the cap board on the word "bitch"..The topic is entitled "limited patience"

If somebody you've known for a long time calls you a bitch during a heated argument/playful banter would you take offence? Given the fact you've known them for a long time, care for them, love them blah blah..There is mutual respect, you are fully aware of this. Does being called bitch by somebody you know very well equate to you having absolutely no self-respect?

Whats the scorpio take on this?

I affectionately call my friends bitch on a regular basis- also "gash" "ho" and sometimes "rancid twat" - but these are all terms of endearment...if my friend were to call me a bitch out of the "pet-names" context I'm sure I would recognize by tone of voice...I would probably feel hurt and ask them why they are being a passive agressive gash (affectionately) and if I didn't get some kind of an explanation I would probably feel bewildered and ask them why they are being such a rancid twat (not affectionately) and walk away.

Well I guess its each to their own. I can quite openly laugh at my own jokes and at myself.

Well missmorals, I can openly laugh at my jokes too. The only way I'd ever laugh at being called something derogatory would be if the entire atmosphere was humorous 🙂. However, if someone is arguing with me and the word "bitch" and "Ho" slipped out of their mouthes ...... then I know damn well it wasn't a joke

As I matured, I learned how to distinguish between what was funny to me and what was an insult. It also depends on who joking with you too ...

I do not allow anyone to call me a bitch, I let it be known from the begining, that is a word that has so many meanings by women I'd rather not be called that name at all.

My girlfriend of 15 years, called me a bitch the first year in our friendship and I damn neared choked her until she apoligize and to this day she knows not to call me a bitch

If I call a anybody a bitch I am mad at them, other than that I refuse to call anyone a bitch.

Somehow I had a feeling this would come up today MM. You know how I feel. My friends and I call each other names everyday. In fact the raunchier, the funnier. It's not because we are low class or were not raised right. It's because we all share, in some sense, the same type of humor. IT'S FUNNY!

Some people would be offended if their best friend called them a twat or cookiemonster. That's just how they are. There is nothing wrong with that. Some are more easily offended. Oh frickin' well. We do make it a point in our workplace, though. If you are easily offended don't hang around us when we are in conversation. WE ALL talk like truck drivers. It just is what it is.

Now if a perfect stranger calls you a derogitory name because you stole a parking spot from them, hey, you might have deserved it. Get over it or go punch them in the kidneys. That's how I see it.

Hell no, I am being just as stubbon I am not calling him. I have known him for almost 2 years but the first year it was not time for us. We just talked a lot, his hours also prevented us. So know we are starting to get more involved, and work through some kinks. I told him that it was not time for us the first year.

No I did not I was just going to buy him a gift, but know that I think about it that damn gift will wait. LOL
