I think that depression is a state of the mind losing all motivation to stand above the tides and sadness of life. Depression can be conquer but you have to conquer you emotions and mindset first. I with through a depression not too long ago and thank GOD that his spirit was in me louder then the negative voices of the enemy and this is how I rose above the pain and fears of my self conscious trying to speak death to me.

Doesn't it seem odd, though, that depression has skyrocketed since the 50's...

(along with technology, maybe) ?

Why is fully one-tenth of the world plagued by it?

Consequences for bad behaviors. Either by the depressed or from exposure to the bad behaviors of others.

And it spreads like a disease, getting worse and worse and worse.
