All officers are trained to defuse the situation, THEN..order the person to step back, none of that ocurred the kid did NOT physically show aggression towards him, other than being upset it took the cops to get there. The cop stepped toward him and still the kid just turned toward him and announced he was US military. To smack the kid in the head and pin the kid to the ground is just another abuse of power. Period. Also...don't know about the cops in California, but the cops in NY ARE on my time clock considering my taxes is what pays their salary. For a CITY squad car to take 45 minutes to show up is insane. They just showed some cops out in California, on hidden camera visiting their girlfriend, ignoring calls, sitting down at an outside cafe drinking coffee and ignoring calls. I work with cops and yes, there are assholes and there are men and women that take their job seriously and professionally.

On first viewing of the video I was taken back by how quickly he went on the offensive. Even if the guy was irate, the officers probably should've dealt with this better. It wasn't til I saw the second video where I sort of made the connection of a power trip. I guess being the 'senior' so to speak perhaps he took it personally and even I have to admit what's the relevance in bringing up being US military apart from trying to empower yourself? Officer or not he is after all human.

Bit undecided on this one, I've seen cases of clear abuse before but I don't think this is as clear cut as it seems. I'm not sure what the rap music had to do with anything either in the news report lol implying he's violent? *shrugs*

"Also...don't know about the cops in California, but the cops in NY ARE on my time clock considering my taxes is what pays their salary."

This is true out here. We pay for our law enforcement in our taxes, too.

Think about how that soldier was treated and how Christopher Dorner described Officer Theresa Evans abusing a
mentally ill person. That's the kind of abuse that needs to come to an end.

When officers treat "civilians" like trash they are feeding a sleeping giant. I wonder about that kid. I don't know the rest of his military story but combat vets suffering from PTSDs and other issues who are treated like this are being pushed toward.... pulling the trigger.
I also don't like the idea of "privatizing" the prison system. Such is begging for corporate abuse - "we'll pay you x $ to arrest x # of people of x crime" - corruption already exist and I've seen people you'd never think would be corrupt
give in if not, turn out to be full blown.
The people truly need to stand up against this kind of abuse lest it fall to all out tyranny.
PS, the saying goes, if you want a cop, you need to tell them you heard a shooting before they come see you. -
it's almost that bad.

Pride and arrogance, empowered by legislation, is behind the abuse of power. They can get away with that behavior.
They do all the time. Exempt and nearly above the law. - that's the impression many people have out here.
