so is anyone stoked that football season is just around the corner?? it seems like forever since the season ended and thier gonna start playing preseason games this week and the regular season starts in roughly a month 🙂

im a jets fan....last year was tough but im looking foward to this year, im quite sure we will do better than 4-12 😛 i hope

I'm pretty much salivating at the mouth waiting for the NFL to be back. One game, winner take all scenarios are awesome. The entire Brett Favre saga is getting too much airplay and frankly it's annoying as hell. Hopefully all of it will blow over and we can get back to the actual games being played.

Really the Jets? I'm a Pats fan. Your team might have been 4-12 but at least you guys didn't collapse in the Superbowl. That was just heartbreaking.

yeah the favre thing is getting old...i think he will end up in tampa but i cant say that i wouldnt be alittle excited if he somehow made it to the jets....

Congratulations on landing on a QB that not only has a rocket for an arm but can last more than half a game without ending up on the DL. Not to mention a HOFer! The Jets might actually have a chance now.

hopefully it should make for a couple interesting years. now we might be able to have a running game cuz the defense will have to play the whole field. i was looking foward to the season already now it just got alot better. favre vs brady twice a year 🙂

Favre's going to have a field day with those receivers he has. Coles will be his safety net with the short passes and he can just throw one deep to Cotchery all day. He's also got a familiar face in Franks at TE too.

6 years ago. Lived there for about 3 months and 8 days. Then moved up north to Washington State for a cup of coffee.

The man held his team hostage for practically the entire offseason. He should have just stayed and kept playing. Sure the man's a legend but he doesn't take the game seriously. Well the business side of it.

i do see both sides of the situation of the packers having to move on after he wanted to retire.....i think though they still had a better chance of winning taking him back than going foward with rodgers.

some say he wont be the same qb with the jets and that a hall of famer at the end really hasnt shined after leaving the teams that they have had thier legacy with......i guess we will see, im hoping its a positive thing for brett and the jets. i also hope he stays for at least two years. i know he wont be around forever but i think one year isnt enough, we'll see i guess...it will probably depend on what level of sucess they have as a team this year.

i know preseason doesnt count for much but it was great to have the teams playing again this week...ahhh football. let the sunday ritual begin again.lol

Preseason doesn't count but it's nice to see what teams could possibly have if those bench players had a chance to play games. I say Brett will play for 2 years tops if the Jets make it to the postseason. I want the season to begin now! Too much waiting going on.

The Jets have some good talent. A lot of speed on the field in the backfield and secondary. I'm sure they'll do fine during the season. All they need to do now is buy into Mangini's system and hope things gel.

how about pennington going to miami......all in the family huh?lol i really like chad.....extremely accurate and a great field general, that arm strengh though *sigh* it just isnt as strong as it needs to be.....i think the later in the season u get the less he has 😢

The problem with Pennington's arm has always been his form. It's all arm. He hardly steps into his throws and hardly uses the rest of his body to follow through with. He probably had a dead arm like most pitchers by the time he finished playing 3 full games in season. I'm glad he'll be playing in Miami, he'll have Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams to hand the ball to so he doesn't have to throw the ball often.

Everybody is going to be playing catch up with us hahaha!

i know.....i usually get tickets for that game too, ive been trying to save money though (recession and all.lol) i live in orlando so i usually head down to the keys on friday night , spend sat. and saturday night there then drive up to joe robbie on sunday morning. i kinda wish i had gotten tickets for this year. i probably still can but i'd feel guilty for all the money i spent that weekend *sigh* 😢

I'm glad you guys are excited and hopefull about Brett coming to the Jets. It's heartbreaking for those of us here in WI. I wish him well, and hope he succeeds there. I know there are some seriously angry Packer fans. They did him so dirty and it's just shamefull. Good luck this year. For the first time, i will not be supporting my packers this year. Phili has been my number 2 team and they have my full on support this year.

Aww man! That would have been a great game to go see in person. First game of the season and you get to see Favre in a Jets uni live! If there were only a way to suspend recession for one game hahaha! Let's hope you win the lottery the day before.

No way! A cheesehead not excited about football season?!?!?! BLASPHEMY! Just think of it as a new beginning. Sure Brett was the face of the franchise for over a decade but that doesn't mean you should be in the dumps over him leaving. RYAN GRANT! That kid won me tons last season. MY school's first game is August 30th against Virginia (USC vs. Virginia), but the game everyone is having a hard on about is the USC vs Ohio State game Sept 13th.
I love college and Pro football, so basically, I watch football from Thursday - Monday night.

Yeah, a lot of pro players are not "hungry" and don't have that fierce competitiveness they need to sustain themselves in the the Pros. It's sad, because football players back in the day didn't whine, cry and have "hold outs" they came to play every damn down of the game, and didn't even have all of the protective garb that these guys have today. Sad commentary.
As a side note, what about those Under Armour ads—? Those men have bodies that are just en FUEGO! I have to take a cold shower almost everytime I see their commercials!!! LOL

It's actually more dangerous to play with all the gear on than without. Take into account that a football helmet weighs 8 pounds. You're literally wearing a weapon on your head when you hit someone. Not to mention athletes now are bigger, stronger and faster than those of yester year. Getting hit by a linebacker from a few years back would equal that of a defensive back nowadays. Today it feels like a car just ran you over. Also the pads that they wear now are getting smaller and smaller. Wide receivers and defensive backs used to wear pads the size linebackers wear now but instead opt for smaller and lighter gear for more maneuverability. Don't even get me started on QBs. Those pretty boys better hope to god that they have a good o-line.

i think i might go to the jets -dolphins opener in miami *sigh* to get seats in the lower bowl and not on the endzone its gonna be $ 200 a seat at least.....im really thinkin hard about it though. someone talk me out or in to doing this.....🙂

well the more i thought about it.....why not?? its a pretty cool situation being favres first game and pennington playing for the dolphins......hell its the only game thats close enough to go to and i needed to get out of town for a weekend, ive been working way too much lately which is a good thing but i could use the distraction. i usually go through stub-hub but i was checking a couple ticket sites and kept looking over all the ones offered and prices and i stumbled on these.......i was sold when read row 2. 🙂

ROCK ON CJ! I go to a lot of games both professional and college and it's always so much fun! One of the best times I had was attending the Patriots vs Redskins games - 50 yard line under the booth where Troy Aikman was commentating. Some people I used to work with got some field passes and they knew how much I love football, so they gave me a field pass. I almost got run over by some of the receivers (ain't complaining 😉)! Lol I was like 3 feet from Randy Moss and I about died!

Oh man oh man! This is going to be insane. I plan on gambling on and watching as many games as I can this season. My roommate just confirmed that he got a raise from his job meaning more money in my pocket. I'm so fucking happy!

I only gamble on games when I go to Vegas. We'll be going in October or November.

We don't get a ton of College football games up here. There's waaaay too much hockey coverage and you have to wait until the highlight shows or late at night to even see those. Heck you hardly have any CFL coverage either. I love Hockey as much as the next Canuck but please for the love of Jeebus give us some more variety in our sports. Funny how that works, meh. This is why I love having ESPN, ESPN2 and NFL Sunday Ticket, those channels are life savers.

The Trojans are one of the many reasons why I wish I was back on the West Coast. Ranked 3rd on the AP Top 25. That defense is going to be anchoring that team ore than the offense did. Plus, John David Booty has a hilarious name.

Heck half the time I pay rent with what I win from gambling so it's no big deal. Football parties at my place are usually just me sitting in front of the tv with a coffee table lined with a laptop, statsheets, calculators and pencils.

A live hockey game is so much faster than watching on tv. The camera focuses on where the puck is most of the time so it's really slowed down but when you see them dogging it out live these guys friggin' fly on that ice. It's also really, really cool when a guy gets checked into the boards because you can hear and see the rattling. Remember to bring a light sweater too because it can get chilly during intermissions.

I play everything. When the winter rolls in I lace up my skates and get my ass out onto the ice as much as possible. We also play full contact, even with complete strangers. I remember when a couple of my friends from the States came up for a month and played with us and they were gassed 5 minutes in and they're feet were swollen from the skates. Hockey is pure stamina.

LOL, yes, John David Booty is his name, but he was drafted last year. Sanchez is our QB now. There are t-shirts that these guys had made when John Booty and Reggie Bush played that said "I love Bush and Booty" umm yeah, it was exactly what they were meaning to imply. Our Defense is fierce! I mean off da' hook!
We are killing Virginia now 7 to 45 with less than 7 min in the game 🙂 YEAHHHHH!
