Hello everyone - I need some solid advice on how to be there for my Taurus mother without burning myself out. Short version is my mother is going in to have a heart procedure done. She was just diagnosed with a condition and this procedure is extremely invasive and although somewhat routine, also sufficiently risky. This has all happened so fast, from discovering the condition to scheduling the procedure, etc and it has really thrown her (and us) for a loop. She's accepting of the situation as reality, yet the fear is not something she can hide from me and I hear it in her voice clear as day. She has asked me to PROMISE her no crying, no worrying, no making a fuss - but has also made it clear this is not a small deal....anyway, how can I balance my sensitive Leo nature which wants to make a fuss and hug her and take care of her, with her need for me to be solid and less emotional? She does have a Leo ascendant if that helps at all 🙂

1. Best of luck to your mother and I hope everything goes ok.

2. Definition of a Taurus Woman:

"Her impassivity to pain and emotional stress is almost : miraculous, often even surpassing that of the Scorpio iv-male. I remember a scene I once watched in a hospital. A Taurus woman was going upstairs for serious surgery, so serious that her chances of surviving the operation were very small, and she knew it. It was a calculated risk. As her husband watched her being placed on the cart that would wheel her to the operating area, she noticed the tears in his eyes. But she never commented. She made jokes instead, until the nurses giggled and even the doctor smiled. The last thing her family heard her say as the orderlies were pushing and pulling, trying to get the cart into the elevator, was typically Taurean. Instead of glancing back at her loved ones with a tearful look of farewell, she raised up on one elbow and spoke to the young men firmly. "Before you put me back on this thing again, get some oil and grease those damned wheels." A Taurus woman never lets sentiment interfere with practicality."

Sandy Nads teared up? I felt nothing. 😆

My mom's a Leo and I guess she thinks I'm emotionally detached or something. I really have no idea. But there are moments where there is no point in panicking, regardless of what it is that's happening. People should instead look for the opportunity to improve their situation. Panicking is detrimental to everything all the time. Or I just don't care because it is irrelevant to my interests.

My mother's mother is also a Taurus. She has Alzheimer's. My mom is sentimental. Throughout the years, she has mostly behaved like she doesn't give a shit and wants everyone to fuck off for the most part, whereas her kids and especially my mother are overly dramatic and saddened by this and her overall condition. I understand people feel this way and there is nothing wrong with that at all, but for the most part, I must chuckle over the way my grandmother behaves and what she says because I find it amusing, though everything else is heartbreaking.

This couldn't be more true. At 28 years of age, I am still shocked to the very depth of my core when my Taurus mother show any sign of weakness or admit any kind of struggle. A Taurus mother is simply amazing, strong, and feminine beyond belief.

To the OP,

I find what works in times of distress with a Taurus mother is to call her often. Talk to her often, share your thoughts and feelings with her, but never pity her. Be attentive and this simple act means the absolute world to them. It's all they need to keep striving and moving forward--simple gestures of love heals a Taurus mother's soul.

Thank you all SO very much, I really appreciate your responses and will definitely take all this advice to heart. I speak with her daily anyway, and the description above of that dry, sarcastic humor is so spot on! In fact, when she first called me with the news she said "Okay, first I want you to know that i'm in a good place and my spirits are high....but hey, ish happens man!" lol. After she explained everything to me however, that's when she started tearing up a little bit and asking me to be strong and not worry. She just needs me, but doesn't know how to tell me directly without feeling like she's burdening me (my mother is extremely intuitive and knows me like a book, has always been very protective of me emotionally.) Again thank you all 🙂 🙂 🙂 Much appreciated
