I find that mercury is more important than the sun

It’s the mind, what could be more important and defining of one’s character than that?
When someone has a mercury different to their son, I generally cannot guess their sign.
I think it can be defining but usually i sense the sun more than the merc.

Maybe. I think the mercury signs who communicate through silence might be the water signs, Taurus and Leo. Pisces Mercury can be real talkative but when they withdraw it evokes emotion from those close to them. It's one of my favorite Mercuries. Cancer Mercury, I think we have active minds but we're moreso writers. We like to communicate but are v sensitive. I met a nearly mute Scorpio Mercury, but they can also be super outgoing and talkative, brilliant Mercury sign. Taurus and Leo merc are Theo Roosevelt-core ("speak softly and carry a big stick").
I guess we're supposed to develop into our sun (and it's one of the most guessable placements); look like our ASC, sun, moon or Venus; and portray ourselves outwardly as our MC maybe? Mercury is how our mind works, more percievable after someone gets to know us
I'm sure the nodal axis matters also and any planet or asteroid on our ASC-MC lines. So many factors it's hard to say

Yes, of course there’s ourwhole chart, but I think the most important planet is mercury. Sometimes I guess someone’s Venus, or Mars or moon… it really depends. But mercury is always strong.
