Hey CB! That was nice to see my name on that list! Yeah, I sometimes think there may only be a few of us using random numbers but what the heck, it's still fun! Ya'll are great! Guess what happened to me over the weekend? It isnt funny now but I'm hoping I can laugh about it later. I figure CB living in Austin could relate. I was traveling in the fast lane on the freeway I-35 Sat morning when a dude with a load of mattresses in front of me dumped one off and I was forced to hit it (or the gaurd rail) and it got stuck under my car. I pulled off to the side and several people tried to help me get it unlodged but to no avail. It started on fire and burnt my 97 Mustang to a total staus in front of us.. What a mess I was, crying my eyes out! The guy got away without anyone seeing his license plate and it has devistated me ever since. I cant believe my car was torched by a mattress dropped in the rode like it was sitting on top of a "light a log!" I also lost my prescription sunglasses in the turmoil. I'm still thinking it was just a bad dream but when I wake up for work and have no car to get there and must wait for my friends to cart me around I realize it is reality! I'll keep you guys posted! What a shame, it was a really pretty car! Just a car though and I'm thankful that I wasnt hurt and that nobody else was either. It has been costly... $ 195 just to tow my burnt car back to Austin from San Marcos. Does this make me think I have bad Karma? Or do I think that guy will have bad Karma? I guess I find out when my Insurance company gets back to me with the adjuster! ...ya'll wanted a funny story! I wish you all better luck than I've been having. Take care my friends!

Hey C-B,

Thanks for the sweet words that you wrote. My friend, I am under-whelmed by my Insurance Company and their response. I will keep you posted. Meanwhile, I am car-less and still happy with the rest of my life. I can laugh at the damage because it is only material and not my life! It could have been a very, very bad accident. I can replace the car even if it means driving a "Fred Flintstone" car that requires me to put my feet down just to brake. However, I did pay an insurance rate that was high and a contract that if my car was ever "totaled" I would be paid a certain amount. That's what I paid for and that's what I expect. Now I have to wonder whether what I signed and paid for is what they will live up to. I never expected that mattress incident (what a freak occurrence) to happen. With the coverage that I was paying for-I can only hope that they see things as contractual and not as a "bend over, after you have paid in full" occurrence. As you can tell...I have zero tolerance about Insurance snakes.
Hopefully, I will be more light hearted once this is settled. Geez, I'm not a lot of fun right now, am I? I'm sorry C-B.

Heather Girl!

You are always fun! That was a freak accident! I feel so bad for you...it is horrible to be w/o wheels...and to pay for a rental horrendous...

I totaled my car last winter, when it started to fishtail on the Minnesota icy interstate...so, a semi-truck decided to pass me during this...I believe I ricocheted 3 times into the semi and across to the other side...the air bags popped, and I ended up wedged in the meridian area...I opened my car door because the "smoke", which they insist isn't smoke that emits from the air bags makes you gag and choke! So, I am thinking...OK...if the accident doesn't kill you...the smoke from the air bag will!! (They insist it is dust...still not good to inhale!!)

Anyway, as I am sitting there trying to breathe, a girl comes from the other side of the interstate, who witnessed the accident to see if I am OK..

(Now, I truly found out at this point just how much of my Dad I really have in me)...She says, "Hey are you OK?" I say, "Yeah, you know, I really don't think I am wedged in too badly...I think I can get it out of here"...(that is sooo my Dad...) anyway, she gives me this incredulous look and says, "is it even running?"...

My bumper was torn off...my radiator had leaked dry...the entire driver's side was bashed...worse at the front and at the back...
Yet, I was alive and lucky!

So, Heather Girl! I know how it feels...to be carless! To have an unexpected Car Loss! It sucks the BIG ONE!!!
Keep your sense of humor...it does help!

After your story, I will try to be careful about who I am following!

I hope everything turns out to be in your favor!

Thinking Of You!!

Oh yeah...

I have another mattress story..
It was starting to storm with blowing snow across the road...I am headed home on a major highway and I see this thing up ahead, which does not appear to be snow...but, is white..
I pulled off and went to investigate..
It was a mattress right smack where people drive! I pulled it off into the ditch...I thought that could surely cause an accident once the snow covered it and people couldn't see that something was underneath...

Why it was there, I will never know!

Dang Star!

You saved people from getting crunched by removing that damn mattress from the road! You are a hero-seriously! You guys cant imagine the jokes and the ridicule over the "mattress incident!" It has been funny and I'm sure I'll laugh for years after this. At least my "air-bag's" didnt deploy! That is so dangerous! Star, I agree with you on the Airbag thing! What a bunch of crap they spew! I was always afraid that if I bumped someone and those darn things blew it would bust a rib and cause blindness toward the street to where I would wreck even more from lack of vision! They scare me worse then actually crashing! I'm currently looking for a 1999 Mustang with the switch that allows you to turn those bitches off! lol. I'm sorry to hear that you had to actually inhale that so called dust that they emit! They are not
"pillows!" They actually explode and can scare the crap out of you and make things even worse, in my opinion. I'm also sorry to hear about that accident you had. It sounds way more traumatic than just watching my car burn up in front of me! (Still waiting on my insurance company to settle my claim.)

Love ya's,
Heather
