True Intimacy?

Not to get mixed up with the Love Thread, but just for fun, what does true intimacy mean to you?

I always thought it was when you were so comfortable with each other, you could fart in front of each other and neither one of you cared. lol!

Oh my why do this on the aqua board? I rather talk about politics with family or for that matter join the polar bear club. I really dont know what to say other than i avoid it pretend it doesnt exist.When the subject comes up i ---. Oh how about that weather too day isnt cold? 🙂

I posted this question on two other boards as well. The answers are all pretty similar: surrender; comfort in that they will be there for you no matter what; comfort in silence without having to talk; knowing that faults and all you can be yourself and still be loved; contentment; and so forth.

Are you guys thinking too much into it or is it deeper than this to you? Or do aquas, in general, have difficulties with these types of things?

For myself, it is feeling that I can be myself - deep, witty, silly, dark, etc -- and knowing that I am accepted 100% . There is comfort in being comfortable. You don't have to be "on". It's okay to be in a bad mood, sick, goofy, etc and know you are loved for all sides of yourself. Of course, for me, what is difficult is allowing myself to show all those sides - for fear of not being 100% accepted. lol!

I think for Aquas, or maybe just speaking for myself. It doesn't matter what the other person does I always have the say in whether I want true intimacy. Is it a deeper trust issue? I'm not sure but it feels that way.

To be myself around them is either for them to know my for a long time so they understand me OR they just somehow know me that I wouldn't feel like I need to answer as to why I do the things I do or think the things I think.

I feel like no matter how close I get to someone I always keep that part just for me, like no one gets in there and I feel fake sometimes when my lover wants to connect emotionally.

It's a bit like this, I can't explain why I can't. At times I feel like I'm been fake so I guess it's true no matter what you do, we just can't fully give ourselves in.
