My recent favourite series is Startling by each step. Unfortunately, my Chinese is not good so I have to rely mostly on English sub. I have read the novel on the internet too and I found the series is just as beautiful and tragic as the novel... Here is the video of the 1st episode being subbed in English. It's a story about a girl who travels to the Qing dysnasty and the irony of fate "wanting to be an observer but how can it be when your fate and their are intertwined"...

oh that sounds great. thanks for the recommendation.

i do love time traveling films/themes. i always thought h.g.wells was an incredibly prolific writer (genius)
sci fi tvfilms as well, which i love to watch with my husband. It's usually star trek voyager, ectera but we aren't fond of the new star trek movie that was recently out. it takes a while to get used to. but we both love detective films (not so much the american tvseries, like CSI, ectera. more so the british detective films because they've got a very different atmosphere. there's a bunch of sci fi ones on some sci fi channel but they aren't that great imo.

Yah, it's true that there aren't many good movies and series these days. I definitely love british movies alot more than the American ones even though the budget on their films usually aren't so big but the storylines are usually more interesting to me for some reasons. Do you like zombie movies? I like "Shaun of the Dead" !lol! However, there is one American director and screenwriter I really like for zombie movies,i.e George A. Romero. His movie "Night of the living dead" in my mind is a classic one. Do you like British drama ? My favourite ones are North and South,The Forsyte Saga and basically Jane Austeen or anything similar stuff 😄

It's weird that I can never get into Star Strek but I like Star Wars. I also quite like the X-file when I was little but it got tedious as it went on. I like to watch Doctor Who because it reminds me of Doraemon , a Japanese manga about a robot cat travelled from the future to help Nobita, a very lazy student by using all the fantastically futuristic inventions 😄

my husband has all the star wars lol he's a fan. star trek, i have to admit, and agree with hubby, yeahhhh that seven of nine is a hottie. oh and the 'shaun of the dead'?? haha so funny because he recommended it to me, told me, honey we're gonna watch this. i'm like wth? it's stupppiddd. but the stupidity of it was hilarious. so stupid it's funny.
he loves 'ghost in the shell' too but secretly there's the hot chick as the main character. heehhe and it helps that she's strong, brainy and kicking ass. a bit cold for my taste though. hehe

not really into british drama though. british comedy YES.

people in general cannot do good comedy imo, but the brits have got that pretty good. George Romero has some weird stuff.
way out there. there was this one that was actually comedic. the zombies started having 'brains', like they could function as a normal human. but they were still so stupid, just basic, "pick up stuff, throw stuff, hit stuff, bite, bite more, eat, chew, raawwwrrrrr, shuffle, make zombie noises, rawwwwrrr"

Lol, yes, aren't they fantastic stuff? If you and your husband like "silly" movies, I reckon "Tucker and Dale vs evil" is also very good 😄 and if comedy you like , do you know "mock the week" and "have I got news for you?" very good satirical humours! The Brits are good at laughing at themselves 😄 Tim Minchin is also a hilarious comedian.

we sometimes do 🙂

it really depends on both our moods. but most times, he's more serious natured and then when we watch a brit comedy he laughs so heartily it's wonderful.

yeah i think that's why we enjoy brit comedy: they can laugh at themselves instead of laughing at other people. i think that's very good that one can laugh at themselves.

my mother in law and i sometimes enjoy watching "keeping up appearances" with the main character always pretending she's got this perfect like life. She's got poorer relations like daisy and rose so she hides them out of sight when her more up-to the ladder type socialite friends are around.
