We are a nation of constant wimps and cry babies when it comes to so- called "feeling ill" in the work place. I keep having to do the work for a couple of people who are always--and I mean ALWAYS taking time off to go home early ot not come in at all. I know this goes on eveywhere-in every office.
Come on America! Grow a thick skin! Deal with the aversities that life throws at you!!!!!
I'm just so sick of the "boo hoo hooo, woe as me" attitude. And I find that it tends to be mostly women who have this attitude in the workplace. Sorry folks--I'm ususally a hard core feminist but this time, I just gotta vent about something that is ever present.
I believe that these persons who are complaining are in professions that are not them. They need to find the gumption to remove themselves from these situations that do not "liven" them up to situations that do....then there will be NO complaining..only joy. Simple, very simple. It takes courage to change and do what you love.
That's an insightful way of looking at it Freebird--I get that part. I feel that that description fits ME!! However, I wish I didn't post this message. I feel that it was a waste of time. I just don't like complainers I guess..
hey sloane. sometimes i feel like things can never be changed too.. but I was & I am wrong..just posting and reading here on the message boards shows me that some people do share each others views.. we're not at all alone in life.. there'll always be others who share the same opinions who'll most likely support you when you speak up.. everyone's just waiting for the initiator.. NOt saying that you should.. go and do them in at work, just that when things get you radically pissy about sheit..that you have every right to say what you think..so go ahead and do that babe.. vent to us/////
Men do the same thing . Time are hard here a lot of people have had to make do. A lot of people were made redundent. some cry about it I took a positution driving a lorry. not what Im traind to do but what was there. My granddad was who I get my outlook on life from there are two things in life he said that made me stop and think. When he was 65 years old he became insolvent, my father ask him what he was going to do . he ask him if he was going on the doall, The old man said I must get a good nights sleep I need to find a job tomorrow. The outher thing he said to was jammy remember this hard times do not last hard people do.
My point is this: when you're feeling under the weather or just ill from whatever it is--even if it's cancer--you just don't tell people in the work place this...
You don't want pity but most of all--your health problem are your business and your business ONLY--NO ONE ELSES. You don't want to make it other peoples business "what you have wrong with you". I hate it when someone in the workplace constantly takes time off, complaining, causing others to pick up the peices or projects or the general protocol. You affect others.
Sloane - I sympathesize with your comments. I have told a few politely to "suck it up" and keep moving. Share the weight, etc. I understand mild complaining.. it can even be funny to vent to buddies at work. Overdosing though.. you're right, it does affect your mental outlook & makes the shift drag on and on. Absentism should not be tolerated either. In my past, I've taken my phone off the hook, on my days off.. *knowing* someone wasn't going to show up and I'd be called. No way. I did mine, they should do theirs.
uh, i like ur grandad to. he reminds meof my mine. he never said anything like that but taht's something he would have siad or at least it seems he would say. he was a wise man even though people in the rest of the town outside of my city in the county seat doesn't want to belive it or admit it. I loved him.

I have a question. The other night I was at a dance club and was sitting next to an older couple ( by about 25 years). The music was loud so the conversation was on and off, but the gest of this is.... I handed her husband (who she met via the inter
I was re-watching a great french comedy called "The Visitors" and it came to me then... What women want from a man--no, it's not money or someone to care for them...
I can't speak for all women -- I know this but I can relate to one sentiment
