Mercury can't express its qualities fully in a FIXED sign. This is a fundamental idea. Mercury's nature is about versatility and duality.

To help the reader to remember, the traditional exaltations of the 7 planets are:
* Aries is the exaltation of the Sun
* Taurus is the exaltation of the Moon
* Cancer is the exaltation of Jupiter
* Virgo is the exaltation of mercury (Warning!!!! Bad books of modern astrology changed recently this exaltation into aquarius! If you want to ignore the tradition and bet in authors with poor knowledge, do it at your own risk!)
* Libra is the exaltation of Saturn
* Capricorn is the exaltation of Mars
* Pisces is the exaltation of Venus

Sun in Aries
Moon in Taurus
Mercury in Aquarius
Venus in Pisces
Mars in Capricorn
Jupiter in Cancer
Saturn in Libra.
Exaltation is not particularly significant for the outer planets.
Dignified: said of a planet in a sign it rules. Here it most freely, naturally and powerfully expresses its energy; and, if a personal planet, is a dominant force in the whole chart.
ie Venus rules both Taurus and Libra so...
Venus in Taurus is dignified making the affections strong, steadfast, physical, slow to develop, stable, reliable, conservative, and placid. One has a love of beauty, pleasure, comfort, nature, wealth, possessions, eating, music, art, and sculpture. One is often beautiful, attractive, kind, and well-liked.
Venus in Libra is dignified making the affections harmonious, balanced, fair, beautiful, sensitive, graceful, cooperative, expressive, tender, and kind. One loves beauty, harmony, balance, justice, partnership and marriage, the arts, and literature. Esthetic appreciation can be well developed, and one usually likes to compromise and cooperate rather than have conflict.
Strong: said of a dignified, exalted, well-aspected or angular planet; or, of an aspect (even a minor one) that is close to exact.
