Why am I unable to let go of things - be it past relationships, flings, old friends, people, places, etc?
I'm so obsessed with the past and I find it odd because even though my sun is in Cancer, I don't have other
water elements in my chart. What do you think makes me like this?
For example, I have been obsessing over a past relationship for years now and I just feel I cannot get over this
person no matter how hard I try. Same goes for old friends. I will think about them, reminisce about all the fun times we had and stuff and it's been years since we met.

My chart is:
Sun Cancer
Moon Aquarius
Rising Aquarius
Mercury Cancer
Venus Leo
Mars Leo
Jupiter Leo

I would have thought the moon in Aquarius would make me less clingy of the past and more 'futuristic'..maybe I need to look at other aspects in my chart as well? But I don't know what exactly.

Yes, I'd think the answer might lie in your houses (idealogy makeup) or more specific aspects of your chart.

I think Aquarius as a sign is misinterpreted. Your moon will keep you from investing emotionally in everything...but it doesn't diminish the value you place on things like the past. I bet it amplifies it...like if you get taken with something even a thought or idea, it really lands and it becomes a piece of you while other stuff kind of brushes past.

All conjecture of course, I don't really have real world experience with these aspects.

I'd agree with this on Aquarius placements. There is a new vid out from KRSChannel on Aquarius venus, and explains how some aquarius are more saturn, the other more uranus. One is more social the other not so much.

So i'd agree that aquarius on a general rule cares about social settings. My mother in law has aquarius venus and she really doesnt care too much about having too many friends either. But she definitely is more social in the arena where she can conduct organizations and be involved in very big social settings.

Cancer the crab holds on tightly to what it considers meaningful, whether past or present. It's likely your pincer effect.. The Aquarius side cares too much of social things, whether friendships or how society views you.. You just need to let it go, maybe do something symbolic like discarding or burying old mementos

Possessiveness mght transfer to the burial site :p

that would be scorpio territory already 😛

I've also noticed that Aquarians tend to obsess over things in their mind. They analyze a situation or a person over and over again. I can definetly see why someone with this chart would have a hard time moving on.

Yeah I think they do too esp if its their moon. Aquas are notorious for total destruction like a lightning bolt.. Most Aquas disappear from networking sites like it's their territorial prerogative.. maybe the OP can do the opposite and just let go completely..

I think you've described me pretty accurately here. I feel as if I'm not emotionally invested in the present. Things and everyday interactions brush past me like you said. But once the present becomes the past, I will hold on to it and obsess over it, unable to let go - especially if it's a thought or an ideal. I spend more energy in trying to 'recreate' the past rather than trying to focus on the present.
