How Important Is Your Ascendant in Astrology

Your Ascendant influences your outward personality and first impressions but is just one part of your complete natal chart. It shapes how others see you and can affect your behavior. While significant, it should be considered alongside other key factors in your chart for a comprehensive understanding.

How important of an impact is your Ascendent on yourself? Does it really play a role?
Many sites Ive come across to generate it have said extremely good things and talk as if it makes a huge impact.
Should I really take into consideration?
Mine is Sagittarius..

I have Cancer and I'm not sure if my emotional side is due to me being a Scorp or if it is the Cancer. I'm sure my nurturing, want to make things better for others is from my Ascendant

Yes you should take it into consideration and you should learn more about it, and how it affects you.

Mine has its pros/cons for me. Sometime I'm grateful I have it, other times It really messes with my work/schooling especially being a Virgo.

The Ascendant is extremely important. Arguably as important as your sun sign. The Ascendant is the cusp of your first house of self-image and is said to be how the world perceives you. If you pay attention to astrology for daily living, you're certainly familiar with the term 'Transit'. Planets transit the astrological houses and the Ascendant is the basis for where your natal houses reside. The astrological House that the transit occurs in is the area of life that will likely be affected, the planet(s) transiting that house or planets elsewhere, nearby, or forming angular aspects of some degree will also affect that house. If you follow horoscopes, you'll notices many astrologers suggest to read/listen/view not only your sun sign, but also your ascendant sign and/or moon sign. Personally, I read Sun and Ascendant horoscopes daily, monthly, yearly, and Moon signs when I have major questions, checking transit charts when needed as well. (I still study daily horoscopes without any definite conclusiveness, but I feel like it's a 50/50 as far as which horoscope will be accurate between Sun and Asc. When I notice my two horoscopes trending in harmony, I try to take advantage of all the incoming positive energy. Maybe that's a bit overboard; at least it gives me something to do.)

In my case I am a Virgo with Sag rising and I would have preferred to be a Sag so that seems to be what it means for me. Many years ago before I had my chart done I knew from the time of day that I was born that I must have either Scorp or Sag rising, so I was relieved when it turned out to be the first degree of Sag!
