There's the technical Websters version of what a "soul mate" is...and then there's each person's individual definition of what a soul mate is.

Some people define it based on how a person makes them feel right away. Others like me base it on how strong & unbreakable our bond is once we've been together for quite some time. I don't agree that it's always safe to consider someone your soul mate when you 1st meet them no matter how many butterflies you get b/c many people have met someone & had amazing chemistry with them or said/heard all the right things & yet it lead to a dead end street.

When you can be with someone for 5 or 10 or 20 years (for example) & you've been through any & everything & yet still have the same butterflies for them that you had in the beginning & when nothing seems to break you apart, that's when I feel it's safe to say, ok this person just may be my soul mate. Either that or that person is your toxic guilty pleasure lol

I don't think there's any way possible to control how/when you'll meet your soul mate

We can guide you as to how you may know it is or what to do when you've finally found them, but there's no way to control when it will happen. There's no particular place to go to find them either lol

However I also believe that a person can have more than 1 soul mate & that soul mates aren't always meant to be together

Simply finding someone that you have this unexplainable/unbreakable bond with doesn't mean that it will actually last. If you're crazy & have psychological issues, your relationship with your "soul mate" would probably crash, burn & end with them too in the same way it would if you were with someone you didn't feel was your soul mate

People have this false sense that when you meet your soul mate, everything will work out no matter what. They think it's an unconditional love thing. I disagree. Human love is never unconditional b/c in order for it to be, that means that there is absolutely nothing they can do that would cause you to break from them.

I would hope that you're not the kind of person who let someone hit you, abuse you, cheat on you, steal from you, or do anything crazy to you lol while you just sit back & take it in the name of "love." lol That's not 2 people being soul mates. That's 2 people being extremely toxic but not leaving b/c they're having severe self-esteem issues. Huge difference.
