Is my Ascendant Libra or Scorpio?

Every site I have gone on it says my Asc is in Libra which I very much relate to (description wise), but when I do my chart on Astro.com, it says I have Pluto in my 1st House in Scorpio and then says my Asc is Libra.

Isn't my 1st house the same as my Asc?

Wait it lists Pluto in both the 1st AND 2nd house...

Hm.. I have no idea. I think the ascendant falls on the line between 12th and 1st. So even if your 1st is Scorpio, it may be closer to the 12th?

What is your 12tj house? Libra?

I have this problem too. My rising sign is technically Libra, but the majority of my first house is in Scorpio. I also have Pluto in Scorpio at the tail end of my first house, but it's difficult to interpret since it technically rules my 2nd house. So I feel the effects of a Plutonian 2nd house very strongly.

What are some 2nd house traits? I read about the 1st house Pluto in Scorp and it sounded dark but relateable.

Pluto may be in your first house but in the sign following Libra (Scorpio). If you have 12th house in Virgo and Ascendant in Libra, yet Pluto in Scorpio in your 1st house, your 1st house starts in Libra but soon carries on with Scorpio, which would mean that if we were to see your chart, the Libra in your chart would be quite small. You have to see where the house cusps fall.

Generally, most libra's are actually pretty round. Most scorpio's i know have that long thin oval face.

Not being offensive, just making an observation.

Oh interesting!! I had a much rounder face as a kid, but now it is much longer and a long prominent nose as well (I'm Armenian). Weight wise though I have more of a mix between scrawny and athletic but big boobs. I'll have to look up scorp rising now but I remember last time thinking it didn't really sound like me.

If you look up intercepted/duplicated signs that might be fun for you.

2nd house is all about resources (material or otherwise), wealth, and financial security. Pluto in the 2nd house personally makes me obsessed with money and self-sufficiency. I can't stand being dependent on anyone for anything. I feel like if I don't have my own money and resources that I'm more susceptible to being controlled by others (that's where Pluto steps in). I also don't like owning a lot of things because I don't want to feel responsible for it/controlled by my possessions, but I actually see that as more of a Saturn aspecting my IC trait.

The way I see my 1st and 2nd house combining is that I identity (1st house) with Pluto in 2nd house themes--namely, self-sufficiency and financial independence. Not having those things would be a gigantic blow to my self-esteem and personal identity.

My 2 pennies.

Second house deals with what gives you a sense of self, or inner security. Money is the common answer because it gives many that outer security that feeds the inner, for better or worse, but it can be anything. Since it's tied in to Taurus/Venus, it can be what you find beautiful (art, music; whatever reflects how you see yourself).

It can show what kind of work you're good at since we spend our lives building a wealth (2nd house-y words) of knowledge of what makes us feel whole, so it can help others with similar 2nd house-y issues.

If it's in Libra, I'd say one's self-worth is boosted when in a relationship or a group of some sort (not necessarily romance or even with another person). Self-worth through justice or balance (financially, spiritually, socially, etc.).

If in Scorpio/Pluto, maybe you're secretive and/or passionate about investments (stocks, private piano lessons, building a house as a surprise), maybe not. A self-image enhanced by getting to the bottom of things, being in control, challenging yourself or others. Confronting issues (like what wecarealot mentioned) that give you new ways to value yourself.

Ok in this sense I relate highly to the Libra and almost not at all to the Scorpio.

Wow you are so right, if there's anything to the whole looks/asc thing then I look very much like all the scorp risings I found. Bone structure/eyes/shape. All I did was a google image search of "Scorpio ascendant looks" and "libra ascendant looks"

You need the time

I am 23 degree Sscorp rising but Sag is my 1st house, it's because of where the houses start and end. I think it's what is considered intercepted, some of the houses are smaller than the rest of my chart.. like 6th is one of the smaller ones i have along with 12th.

Look at your chart. you will be able to see if any houses are smaller than the others. 🙂

Hmm no my houses look to be all the same size

hmm well that was just a theory.. Asc can be different than 1st house however!

IMO, your Avi does look Scorp rising to me🙂
