Only issue is, if you take decans seriously, you can't take sun sign cusps seriously. A sun-ruled and sun sub-ruled decan, for instance, can't by default have anything to do with Cancer. The two are totally contradictory. Sun sign cusps are a modern invention catering to the lazy. And there's no shortage of buyers in that market.

But dime-store astrology from the impulse-buy shelf at 7-11 is still easier to manage than the legwork it takes to actually understand a chart full of substantial connections between placements, aspects, etc.

Let's submit that you're a Virgo, for example. Merc and Venus are both close to the Sun, so these will often be found in the sign before or after your Sun sign. So if you're a Virgo, both Merc and Venus could be in Libra, or in Leo (which comes right before Virgo.) Or you could have a Libra Rising or Libra Moon. Or possibly Venus Conjunct Ascendant, which would bestow on you strong Libra qualities.

But if someone thinks all the sun sign cusp bunk is helping them, then I'd be pretty remiss in deep-sixing their positive results over a technicality. So enjoy, but at some point check up on who's pouring your drink.
