Mercury and Saturn

I could be completely naive to this topic but...

if Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, and Gemini and Virgo are ruled by Mercury, why do I see so many topics on the internet that Gemini's and Capricorns don't work because of their ruling planets. Even though Virgo's are ruled by mercury as well.

I don't know much about ruling planets, so I am just curious.

I've never read that Gem and Cap don't get along because of ruling planets. I have read that Gem and Cap are usually not recommended because they are inconjunct (quincunx) aspects.

I don't hold alot of weight on Sun sign aspect compatibility, because you really need to look at the entire chart. However, being gem and cap are in different elements and modalities, there will be some friction to overcome because of the incojunct energies.....put other parts of the chart can smooth that out too.

I dont hold weight on sun sign either, because my Cancer bff's mother and father are Cap male/Gemini female, and they had an "arranged" marriage. And they have a good marriage despite being "arranged"...

i dont feel they believe in astrology though. My girlfriend doesn't so i dont feel her family does either.
