The first part is the law of frequency but that isn't the same thing as influence to me. It just leaves a deeper impression in the moment.
That's a new concept for me. Interesting! Do you know a good place where I can read about that?
I think I read about it in books, not online. But it's a very small subject.

It's just the general guideline that the less frequent an aspect, the more vivid the impression it makes.

Pluto will only return to any given position in your chart once every 128 years. So every Pluto aspect and transit in your lifetime is literally once-in-a-lifetime (until we figure out how to live longer than 128 years on average).

the closer you move to the Sun and away from Pluto, the more frequent the aspect.

Moon aspects are the most frequent. and the least noticeable.

But that doesn't equate to influence over someone's character imo.

Interesting! That sound a bit like the theory that planets are influenced by more slow moving planets, adding that the more slow moving the planet is, the more effectively they are capable of influencing other planets. Did I misunderstand?

I think this means that slow moving planets - like Pluto - have the longest aspect duration but are less frequent if you compare it to the moon - which moves fast and aspects more often.

The strength of its influence depends on what it aspects, the house (and maybe the orb?)

Iwant to say the less transits you have aspecting your chart at any given time will be the most prevalent. Where as if you have 5 planets aspecting at once, the energy is more scattered.

Thank you! The last part of your post seems to be purely applicable to a transit chart, but the first two would apply in a natal chart as well, right?

Not necessarily. But I don't want to make it complicated.

I think it's easier if you decide you believe more in classical astro or in modern astro.

Modern astro agrees with you because it ignores light and just bases orbs of influence on aspects alone, not on planets.

Classical astro has planetary orbs and looks at the moiety of a planet (the radius of light surrounding it) and a planet's ability to collect light from other planets.

If you have a theory you should run with it though and just see where it takes you.

My curiosity is now even more tickled. It seems to me that the two theories(classical and modern) would correlate pretty well. For instance, if you would compare the orb you count when it comes to planets versus asteroids, it would be different in both, but there naturally has to be a scale in between, which would correlate to size and mass of the planetary body...which may or may not correlate to the emission of light...plus the distance from the sun. I'm speculating, I know. Is there even aglimmer of truth in this?

Classical astrology is a lot of math, bet. 🙂

This is so interesting! Where do you get your litterature on astrology? Mostly books or on-line? If on-line, then do you have any good links? And don't worry about complicating things - difficult just takes a little longer. 🙂
Mostly Kindle. Some books are only available in hard-copy but Kindle ebooks cover most of it.

There are probably good websites too.

If you want a good book on the classical side of things, read Anthony Louis' Horary Astrology: Plain and Simple.

He covers all the seven or so major areas of astrology in brief. You have to kind of throw out the rules of natal astrology when you read it.

But he starts off the best way. He just talks about how astrology makes no bloody sense, but that he sticks with it due to a few very key experiences. And that's pretty much what I vibe with. It's hard to find writers in astrology willing to be honest and talk about their mistakes. He does.

Awsome! Thanks! 🙂

A planet is what you're doing, the sign is how you do it and the house is the area of life in which you are doing it. Planetary influences or aspects can affect all of those things.
Absolutely! The question is how and by what.

I think it would have to depend on the aspect. Here's an example -
My Sun sign is in Leo in the 8th house and it has an opposition to saturn (in Aquarius in 2nd) and is conjunct jupiter in leo in the 8th. Saturn indicates some type of delays and the opposition is a very powerful aspect to overcome, so when I was younger I had a hard time finding my self-esteem {and sometimes still do}. This aspect undermines some of the fixed power that is supposed to come with my sun in house combo. It just means I step into my power later on - which I'm just starting to do at almost 25.

What's an aspect that you have in your chart?

You cannot disregard the influence of Neptune, Pluto, Uranus, Saturn, or Jupiter when it comes to interacting with personal planets. I see a lot of people who have combos with Moon and Saturn and they have trouble with their emotions and or parents. Neptune for for me makes me directionless for periods and undisciplined a lot more than I prefer even though I'm a Cap. The Neptune is hard for me to fight against. etc.

Yup Saturn in second house relates to self esteem and materials too; I have the same thing Saturn at the end of Cap Conjunct a Cuspy Aquarius Venus. It took me a whole of time to get higher self esteem. Because I grew up poor and had a sucky family which really hurt my self esteem, so I had to detach from what I didn't have and focus on my abilities of what I could control.

Now slow moving planets also affect your generation and kinda broader things in your life NOT RELATED TO YOUR PERSONALITY; however when it comes to aspects you always include them in your personality.

WHEN THEY ARE IN THE HOUSES THAT IS WHEN THEY HAVE LESS TO DO WITH PERSONALITY and more about kinda outside influences like gravity and how it affects your life.

Oh yes, I have saturn in taurus, so Let's just say I wasn't super rich growing up. My parents are great, though, so lucky lucky me.

May I ask, let's say your moon(gemini(2nd)) is opposing your sun(capricorn(8th))

and let's say that moon is also square uranus(libra(5th))

All in all,how does that affect your moon?

Well you always look at everyting that affects your moon.

Ok you are a Cap

Gem moon in 2nd is tricky An unemotial moon in the 2nd

Again 2nd House= Self Esteem Money (how you obtain it)

8th house is obviously other people's money, your debt and sex--also karma and death

Short summary of Moon and Sun Oppostition you struggle with your needs and wants( given that your moon is in Gemini makes that even more indecive)

Maybe that can be tied to your income.

Wherever Carpricorn is YOU HAVE TO BE DISICIPLINED. So try to be disciplined in regards to sex whatever that means and definitely with your deb.

Libra square moon in Libra almost certainly having a partner who is different from you racially, culturally or socioeconmically.

It could also point to your motherhood I assume you are female. (Moon and motherhood)

If not that, then it points to you moving kinda far from where you grew up

Remember 5th house deals with your children--- namely the first child as well as your hobbies and pleasures.

I think we may have misunderstood each other. Maybe I have been unclear. Sorry.

Yes, we know what it means to be a capricorn, we know about the second house, we know how a little about how a libra sun in the 6th would work and we can read about certain aspects, but I'm talking about how a planet positioned in a certain house and in a certain sign affects another planet in a different(?) sign and house. Let's say, for instance, that you have your moon in aquarius(7th) and that it's conjunct neptune(same sign and house) and square pluto(scorpio(4th))

1. Is the moon influenced more by neptune or pluto in this case? Let's assume the orbs are identical and that both forces are aspecting or seperating.

2. Same question as in nr 1., but assume that instead of a conjunction, there is an opposition to neptune(leo(1st))

2. How much aquarius is left?

3. In a case with a looot more aspects, could the original sign "drown" in the influences of other planets? Not totally, ofc, but...

4. In what way and how much is the moon affected by the fourth house?

5. In what way and how much is the moon affected by the sign of scorpio?
