Astrology's more complex than that....lol sometimes you meet or see a person similar to one you know, and the chart's totally different, save for a few details, like element, or symetry within the chart.
For me it is someone who accepts me, all parts even the not so great parts. Willing to put into the realationsip as much as i am.
Doesn't matter placements or Sun sign. I think people can become too wrapped up in perfect or perfect placments/matches. Just my opinion, if it works for others then hats off.

justagirl-- I too mainly seek someone who is accepting of me but I am deep and complex and I desire to be understood too... and in my experience it just so happens that the people who understand me are at least of like element if not actually personally a native to some of my signs. I'm going off of my experience of looking into astrology and it having been extremely accurate to what I experienced in reality. If this were not the case I wouldn't be so public about my obsessive thoughts.
With that being said, I realize that these signs are in play since birth, and it may truly be our destiny to transcend those signs and those energies, maybe to the point of even dissolving the person whose signs once defined us so well. Either way, i think those energies tend to be underlying no matter what and therefore still surface in a persons dealings. I have yet to find a person who's astrology is contradicting to their life. In fact, I truly welcome any sort of encounter with such a person, especially in a relationship. I feel I really can remain quite objective when dealing with any sign, thinking first about how he or she makes me feel. If my heart really challenged my feelings about this person of questionable compatibility and made me fall in love in a way that astrology could not predict, I would be delighted. There's something bittersweet about astrology being so accurate in my life...
I SUPPOSE if I were to think of one person in my life that I truly love and who means more to me than anyone but family is my best friend who is a sun Virgo, moon Aqua, Rising Virgo..... There is SO much we disagree on and in the past SO much misunderstanding between us that I was ready to walk away quite a few times but she was persistent in keeping my close to her and that was a first for me. We are soo much a like in the weirdest ways but like I said, very different. And I love her to death!! I don't think we would look like we get along based on astrology though, and to be honest we have been through some really rough patches in our friendship but I truly hope to meet more people like her that defy astrology for me. In terms of romantic relationships though its different, I don't know why but I feel that most things should come naturally in a relationship and it's not that I'm not willing to work for progress but I am also not out to be focusing on keeping difficult relationships when there are so many different kinds of people in the world that might be naturally easier to get along with.
I think in general I may also just have a warped perception of what a working relationships is like. My mom has been married 3 times and I still see serious unhappiness. My point of reference could be better I suppose.

I like how clever and witty gemini moons are and I dated one in college that was a cancer rising and and sun leo and he was actually pretty sensitive and understanding. I also have a mars gemini and an 8th house gemini so it works for me, i think.

Ooh yeah sorry, I see now what you mean by strong position. Yeah I often feel really confused about my creativity because my 5th house is pisces but my Neptune is capricorn. I have huge creative potential but my capricorn keeps me in a more practical realistic mindset that pulls me away from doing something artistic with my abstract thoughts

Personally I've always considered it a dark/karmic placement because it represents a huge struggle between love and power, sometimes it feels like you have to choose either one or the other, which is probably why you think you're obsessive, sometimes you feel unlovable, other times you're just confused about the object of your desire (you don't really know what you want), which is maybe why you tend to like people with similar placement to yours (I'm guessing it's because it's easier to feel in control when she's just like you). Intensity is definitely there, amazing sex is there too, but she has to be mature if you don't want to suffer dealing with this placement, otherwise I'll be a huge struggle. Honestly I wouldn't recommend it unless you're hardcore, I think it's healtier/easier for you to find a Scorpio Rising,

For me, I'm not overly picky but if anything I do enjoy people with more water placements followed by fire (I find comfort in people like me), I'm also drawn to people that I don't understand. If anything, venus conjunct mars like me.
Don't know if I can deal with another pisces moon though, tried one once, it was suffocating.
I can never give up on being understood lol why? I have been misunderstood too much in life I think. So I practiced being a great communicator and is gotten better but I still have trouble with people getting me. It's an ongoing struggle lol
