read this book several years ago.. quite interesting.. as me being an asian..I had/have been wondering why now this modern world is the way it is..i.e., west..or euro-centric

that book offered some interesting ideas regarding that question ..
but then the author himself is western(stems from european cultures)..caucasian..also a man.. all those are assumed to be related to hegemon and the top hierarchical power in this era .. which made me think .. how much did/or could the author related to the issues he brought on the table? (like men can be a feminist(in a real sense)?..the question has been there for some time) .. how much he could escape from those? is it even possible? if possible, how does it happen..then how am I to strive against the same/or similar stuff..when I read books (and not only his), I always try to think about those things..and try to be critical..meanings between lines, hidden meanings which even the author him/herself are not aware of (embedded there unconsciously because one is too imbued with them even to realize their power over him/herself) ..just reading (passively) is not enough.. I must read actively and engage

but then lots of critical approaches..even which I am implementing here and there.. are from the west.. western philosophy, schools.. and I wonder what is my identity as a minority group here.. and some might question 'what does it even matter in this globalized era..? ethnic identity..or nationalism do not mean much today..' ..but do they not really? I, personally, think said globalization has empowered those notions more than before..and at the same time spreading certain values or cultures as the universal ones ..things are quite complex here..

lol whatever..
those my ramblings above aside.. the book itself was not so bad read.. I have been thinking about getting on his other book the third chimpanzee..but being lazy lol

has any one read the book the third chimpanzee already (also guns germ and steel)?
if so, how was it? would you recommend it?
I enjoyed guns germs and steel..would I be enjoying the third chimpanzee as well? 🙂
