THIS WHOLE SERIES OF BOOKS NEEDS TO BE PILED UP IN A BURING HEAP. What is this shit? Not only are these the WORST/poorly written novels I have ever seen but they are sexist and insulting on every level-as a woman. Stephenie Meyer is an AWFUL author. Setting yet again a BAD example for young people. Having a message to your book is vital. The message this book is sending is, Who wants to be a human *scoffs* when you could be immortal and beautiful? Forget about having kids, growing up, or dying. Who wants that? Let your boyfriend control you completely. Be completely dependent on him for everything. Use your friends. Treat your friends like dirt. Spend months moping around the house if you don't have a boyfriend, because without a boyfriend, life is worthless". It's just bad all over the place. This series demeans everything I find to be important in life.

I more just hate it because it's a very shitty vampire series, which is sacrilege in my opinion, but I see your point. 😉

It's what we call a "Mary Sue". The writer is living a sex fantasy via her character, like any author of a bodice ripper paperback...and dragging poor vampires into it. She's hardly the first one to do it, but yeah, it's very irritating.

I'm actually a fan of the books, but I agree with the critics. I love scarring the mind of the more fanatics which go all crazy when I start talking like that about the book. Then they can't believe that I read them, but if you actually read the book you are able to find things to use against the fans.

That's why I call it scarring because once you tell them certain things they aren't going to think the same as they did before they new this. I agree that Bella is a Mary Sue after all how can so many people like just one girl who is said not to be that attractive, clumsy, and she doesn't talk very much to anyone other than Edward.

The books are indeed horrendous beyond belief.
One of the most annoying things to me is that apparently the author said "I don't write messages in my books."
What kind of an idiot is she? All books have messages whether you intend to write them or not. All her messages are unconciously put in and bad. I don't know how anyone can read them without getting annoyed.

I really must find out Meyer's whole birthchart just for curiosities sake.

For awhile, I was aggravated because of all the fuss about Twilight. Then I figured, anything that gets young adults/children reading is a GOOD thing. Sooner or later they'll find something better to read, but eh, it's a start.

I completely agree with you, Sagittarius89, but I also disagree with you. I agree with you in the aspect that it is unrealistic and gives the wrong out look on life. I disagree because we all need that little bit of fantasy in our lives, we all need to feel those extreme emotions at times. But we all also need to realize that it isn't real and that reality is NOT at all like that. Though it is fun to think about. Yes it was poorly written, very poorly written in fact, but look who it was written for: the ignorant youth of today. I know seniors in high school that can barely read at a sixth grade level, those are the people the books are written for, overly impressionable people with low reading levels.

I am also a fan of the series but only because it lets me get away to unreality when I need it most. I am nowhere near a fanatic. I think anyone who gets that worked up over inanimate objects and fictional characters is truly out of their mind.

haha i read them all and i liked the series. i certainly couldn't relate the the characters (Bella and Edward are earth signs in the worst way lol) but i love fiction and fantasy. bella totally sucks though haha

Bella's a Virgo (the book says so too but I would have guessed that anyway)
Edward is either a Taurus or a Capricorn (I lean more toward Taurus though)
Jacob is DEFINITELY a Scorpio

I haven't read the books, but the i liked the movies. Actor Robert Pattinson who plays the character of edward is a Taurus sun/cancer moon (May 13) and very befitting of the actual character he portrays. Earthy, sensuous and hungry, with that venuisan charm and hypnotic stare, both protective and possessive. I find he echo's perfectly the actual astrological traits that his character was mean't to express in the stories/ or via the films themselves.
