BF cancelled my birthday dinner...

Because he got fever last night all of the sudden...
I know it's not his fault, but I can't help feeling pissed off.
I also feel like maybe he made excuse so he doesn't have to spend tonight with me (I know it's not true)
Since we made the plan a week ago, so now I have no choice but to spend the night by myself..
(He wouldn't let me to visit him tonight, saying he's too sick for visitors)
I'm so upset right now...

He's sick and your pissed? I'd be more pissed if someone got me sick on my bday.

Wait, lets try this again. HE'S sick, and even though you know he's not trying to ditch you, you STILL feel that he's somehow doing this to get out of something. Are you projecting onto him or are you just very selfish?

There are so many contradictions to this. So. Many.

I know I know.. It's lame and you all think I'm selfish/childish..
but excuse me for being upset that I have to celebrate my birthday by myself..
The dinner I was looking forward for a week, and then just cancelled like that. (I personally don't do well with last minute change)
And becuz I made plan with him, all my friends are doing something else tonight

Of course I KNOW it's not true he'll ditch me for pretending he's sick.. it's just me venting out (one of hundreds little dramas in my upset mind)
Logically I know it's not his fault, but emotionally i just can't help being mad.. I do wish i can shut off my emotions like a robot!!

Wow, you're a Sag too huh.... Hmmmm.... You don't have any other friends you can spend your birthday with? Maybe he's broke and doesn't have the money to take you out and is just embarrassed to say that to you..... IDK, but that's shady tho LOL

He's not broke, lol. He may not living a luxury life, but well enough to support himself.
He did tell me when he's better, he'll take me to dinner, but that's it...
Maybe I really have to go surprise/stalk him tonight to see if he's lying or not :p

If the illness is legit, he should made a back up plan like sent you flowers today to make sure you are taken care of on your bday, or told you the make up time is going to be.
No real gentleman would ever leave his lady hanging on her bday. I've never had any bf keep me hanging on my bday. Always they have plan A & plan B.

Yes, absolutely go visit him with a chicken soup and a bottle of wine. Soup for him, wine for you.

He's a bloody cancer, he'll be waiting for it! Not long ago, we had a cancer on dxpnet who went berserk after leaving his girlfriend following an argument. No, he wasn't mad because she wouldn't take him back! He was mad because she didn't chase after him to comfort him!! And what's even more bizarre, his fellows cancers agreed with him (I'm sure CC didn't, though).

He's probably on the phone with his mom complaining about his uncompassionate Sag gf who probably went out b-day partying instead of nurturing him!

One more mistake like that and you're dumped!

C'mon. I have suspected my b-friend of everything possible. Including of being a pedophile, only because his ex wife looks like a 12 year old boy in the family pictures.

Obviously, only one of us was talking from experience.

No trust issue here. I'm upset simply because plan got cancelled last minute and I have to spend birthday alone. And I'm allowed to think of all the possibilities as some abnormal situations came up, doesn't necessary mean I don't trust my boyfriend.

Anyway, I think he sensed my frustrations and asked me if I would like to celebrate birthday at his place as he feels a little better than this morning, but still not well, so he will take me out some other day... And he's sick for sure, but at least I'm spending tonight with him 🙂

Are all sags that flippantly flippy? And I'm agreeing with djbuck. Don't think he (sick boyfriend) didn't pick up on it, either.

Of course my boyfriend is more important,
otherwise I wouldn't be so disappointed/upset that I thought I couldn't meet him on my birthday

It's something I've been looking forward to the whole week,
and it got cancelled last minute, I think my reaction is reasonable.
But I did not lash out my emotions on him, I kept it all to myself.

I treat him like a king all other 364 days, I deserve to be a queen for one day. I don't think it's too much to ask.

Anyway.. I had a nice and peaceful birthday tonight, not as planned, but I'm just grateful to be with him.

We should never fear suspicion. Just don't throw it in the face of the "suspect". Stand up to it, think about it, debate it, disprove it. After all, it could be the secret ingredient for the best relationship. The one in which partners don't take each other for granted.
