Okay so first he'd flirt and tell me I looked great.
Then I spontaneously got his number off a friend and talked to him.
He started off open and slowly clammed up.
He drunk texted a few times and I was nice but no dice for hanging out. First he tried to accommodate then he straight up cancelled.
Then a month or two later after I was living my life & busy, he said I was being distant :/
Now we're cool again and he randomly tells me stuff about his ex girl (manipulation clearly) and I've opened up to him about a broken engagement (to mirror back the manipulation) and he tried to act harsh but I put him in his place.
So I haven't talked to him all day and he avoided eye contact with me at work.

Bottom line I'm confused.

It's the first time I've ever considered someone from work. The telling of the ex girl came about randomly after months of not talking. I'm assuming its manipulation because it's the first really personal thing he's ever told me and it was in a "leave me alone because I know you're interested" type fashion. He'll be very reserved one minute and spilling his guts the next but telling me that I won't be able to handle it. Kind of acting like he's the only one who's ever been hurt by someone when he started the argument that made her stop talking to him anyways.
When I told him about my engagement to show him i had been hurt too he chastised me for entertaining the thought like i had been stringing the guy along when that was not the case. When I corrected him he went back to acting like he didn't care but he was right 🤔

I'm confused as to if he likes me or not though. He said he's holding onto hope that the girl he got into the argument with 8 months ago will still come back but at the same time he actively flirts with me, but so all over the place.
