Cancer man won't open up :(

I've been dealing with this cancer guy since July and we've had quite a few ups and down (him being mad at me because of something I said) but we still want to be in each other's lives. I can't seem to get him to open up. If something happened that upset him he won't talk about it, he won't share certain things that happen in his life and I usually find out about it via social media. I must say, this time around, he's not as lovey dovey towards me as before. Idk if he's lost trust in me or needs time, but I would think if he did he would be done with me. I know I love him and he loves because of certain behaviors, but I don't know how to get us back on track. Any advice guys? Thanks!

Do you ask him or wait for him to tell you?

Ask him which? About why he's upset or what's going on in his life? If I can tell he's upset about I'll ask him if he's OK. He'll say he pissed but refused to elaborate. He only says I'll be ok. I don't ask about things in his life because I wouldn't know they're happening 😢
