Cancer woman problems

My Cancer ex girlfriend is giving me some weird mixed signals. When we initially broke up she would contact me a lot, email and texts...now when I see her or message her I get one word replies or she seems annoyed at me. Not sure what I did wrong and she was the one that initially kept messaging me, to which I responded in a really friendly way! She's very busy at work so i'm just guessing she's put her career first and is totally over me which is kinda sad...

Are they always this impossible to work out?

I guess so - it just seems that she used me to get over me but then dropped me when she sees how much I still care. I got her a little valentines day gift which she said was very thoughtful and she looked like she was about to cry, but then doesn't want to talk to me since...

I think it's too late for that now - I missed my chance....things seemed to be going back to normal then she's gone distant again. Maybe there's someone else...
