How might a Cancer male with no mother figure be?

I know one whose mother died when he was six years old. His grandmother who raised him was apparently selfish and didn't properly raise him.
He also has a Cancer moon.

There probably will be someone maternal he would identify as a mother figure in his life. See if that is the case, it is rare to not have a maternal figure, I can see not having a good paternal figure available, but usually good maternal figures are plenty.

What about the ones who have grown up with "Cold" mothers. How does that effect him in relationships.
