Hi guys I've hit a brick wall. I don't wanna burden you with every detail unless u wanna know. I'm coming to the end of my college course very soon and the past couple weeks I have no clue or ambition on what to do next. I actually have no vision of my future. I have no goal yet I want something to work to but how can I when I have nothing to work to. I try everything now and then but I lose interest so fast and then never wanna go back to it. I like drawing and writing but I'll start something but go off the idea very quickly. I think it's a fault of mine but it's pissing me off how I can't seem to find that thing I want to do nd be good at. I sometimes feel numb like I have no meaning maybe? I'm riding life atm just breathing air it feels.I just wanted to talk to u guys incase anyone has experienced this type of trouble before. Getting past that wall of nothingness. Thanks guys for reading.

My advice is not going to sound appealing to you, but I speak from my experience and the experience of my peers. I went to school for design and am really quite a good artist. There is a lot to art and writing beyond talent. You have to put in work, passion and drive. There are many other careers like this as well, such as being a real estate agent, or any job that is purely commission based, especially if you need to spend money to make money. If you want to follow your heart and find the job that fulfills you, you need to do this.

BUT, it is important that you find a steady source of income while you find your dream. If you do not, you go into debt. If you do not, you will not get hired. You need to work in order to have worth. Trust me when I say, if you have not held a steady job no one cares if you graduated at the top of your class with a fantastic degree. They do not care what scholarships you had. What you will end up with is someone offering you minimum wage to do a job you will hate anymore than the jobs you thought were terrible years earlier.

However, put your nose to the grindstone while tolerating a job you do not love. Work a ton of extra hours beyond your job to follow your dream. After a while you will have a nice part time income from your passion. Build your client base. If you do this you will eventually be able to kiss the job you do not love goodbye and make a living doing whatever it is you found you love the most.

Brilliant support guys thankyou all for ur words.Taurus girl in this together lol looks like I'm gonna have to bite my pride and go back to a job I hate so I can just start earning. Maybe get the confidence to be an extra in a program or film or some shit. Lost bul thankyou for taking time, I get these ideas and are so passionate at the time I say I've got this idea I'm gonna try get it published, I even brainstormed back stories and character development last time then bang, my creativity just crumbles my feeling of euphoria and passion for the story goes and I just don't wanna go back. Vigorilla thankyou, it's not that I'm not good at the things I've tried I just get a sudden urge to do something and I put a lot of effort in but after a few hours that urge goes and I just have a slump feeling of I'm done. Although I'm patient, when it comes to learning new things or wanting to better myself, time is my enemy 😢.
I have a Facebook page for some of my writing and I tried sharing it to this website before but it's apparently hard to access.
I shown my English teacher the page and she said I have good ideas but need to input more commas lol. Thanks again guys I really appreciate any feedback.

Alfabutt, My writer friend goes through jobs every couple months, but he keeps pushing. He takes one night after work to write and one day on the weekend. He never writes at home.

I have one art based business that I have been building for several years. It makes a decent second income, but it is seasonal and not steady. It is also not based my original art.

My struggle concerning is that I am at my most creative and inspired when I am not happy. There is something strange about happiness killing my inspiration. Do you struggle with this at all?

Anyway, the sad part in the end is that when it comes to any art, whether it be visual or written, talent is secondary. It is good salesmanship that can make or break a possible career. Only the occasional brilliant mind rises beyond the game of marketing. It is all about the hustle, which is not natural to most creative types.

Good luck. I hope you find happiness and security!

Virgorillaa - exactly, too busy being happy to do anything. And in visual art I do not think the drama is as jarring as it is in writing. One image is a lot less heavy to deal with than something you really invest your time in reading.

As far as the ironic name.... Yeah, I have it kind of figured out. The problem is I understand what to do because I made all the mistakes. I have a few businesses that I work at constantly, and they are growing. Seems wonderful. Problem is I spent years doing what I wanted instead of being logical. I am in huge debt.

And now my businesses are headed in the right direction and the lost part of my name comes in. Fall in love with someone new and it throws a wrench in everything, especially when your work is connected to the one you were in love with. I am certainly lost when it comes to love. Why else would a Taurus be hanging out in the cancer forum anyway?

But, back to the subject. The guidance counselors in our schools have been taught to tell children to study something they love and that this will lead them to a job they can be passionate about. Parents have been taught to tell children they can be anything they want to be. We are doing a disservice to those we love when we say these things. Many of us are lucky enough to have the opportunity to pursue our dreams, but we need to be aware that does not guarantee success. No one should tell their child they can be the president if they want to be. Even with superior intelligence and drive the chances are slim. But we should tell our children that they have the opportunity to try to be the president if they choose. When you are taught you will have sure success, defeat leaves you bitter and lost. Sorry, a little ranty; I know.

Yes,growing business or whatever my future may hold I will pull myself out of my financial mess. It will take time, but I will do it.

And you are right, I do think it is important that you end up loving your job eventually. Sometimes, it is just important to make sacrifices to your happiness in the beginning in order to reach the happiness you wish for in the end. Thank you for putting things that way!

It does seem like every culture focuses on either happiness or "success". So many of us fail to notice it us not so cut and dry. There is a much more yin yang thing that should be happening.

Success came much to easy to me from childhood through college. Real life was a harsh reality. I am a little cynical. But, I think it is so important to pursue your dream while you create a concrete future. If you do not try to reach for your dream, you will always wonder what you missed.

Wow guys some great and long convos here, always nice to see people getting on nd trying to help.
I gotta keep this short as I'm getting a little tired right now. Mr lost bull I know exactly what u mean....they say the best writers are the most fucked up, they have the stories to tell they have the aggression and fury behind them to keep going. But when all is lovey dovey ur thought process changes, there's less productivity when everything is hunky dory. Vigorilla my passion just leaves nd never comes back nd if I do go back it will be a new story. That's why with my Facebook page they are very short stories but there's a lot of passion in them. You will feel my pain and fear and love in them.

Boxcarmirnta I'd actually love to do that if I had the balls nd haggling skills to get a job wherever I landed. But unfortunately I don't and besides I have a son I see on weekends and the last thing I wanna do is run as I have before and regret it. I have actually packed a small bag nd just got on a train to the seaside before tho, it was nice being in my own company...back then but now, and the way I'm feeling, I think I'd do something stupid.
