Some truth

What does truth mean for you?

I have always being fascinated by knowledge. I remember as a teenager the burning desire to find things out, to discover what no one else knew. I was sure there was a secret that nobody was telling me, there must be a "way", there must be a thought, a method to living that leads to success (not money, not a good job but an immense understanding of things). And nobody seems to know the answer...

So I discovered Descartes (in spanish) and all the Pr-socratics with their interest in the physical world, I read Aristotle, plato, Seneca, Marco Aurelio, Saint Thomas de Aquino, I read Nietzsche, I read Sartre and then I turn back to Spinoza, Voltaire and Rousseau... Unsatisfied I turn to Christianity, I read a few things about Islam, about Sufism, about Buddhism, Baha'i, about Taoism...I find Krishnamurti, probably the most satisfying authors I have found...and all he manages to say is: "Hey Kid, your on your own, but this is ok"...also "change yourself to change the world because the true revolution starts within"

But, and this is a big "BUT", nothing really gives me satisfaction, nothing really gives me peace of mind, I find myself always wanting or thinking I need to know more...

So my questions are:

1) Why turn to astrology? how has it helped you (if it has helped you)?

and 2) What truth have you found in life that has allowed you to dig a steady path?

1) My initial reaction to astrology was always skeptical but finally since I am open minded I decided to give it a shot... and to my great surprise more often times then not... you can predict a lot about someones personality with it. I won't SAY that it is all accurate or that I honestly believe everything about it... BUT I have come to the conclusion that no matter what anyone says there is definitely something to it. My mom is a Scorpio and they are known for holding grudges forever!! And what do you know she is the most EPIC grudge holder I know.... I'm Aquarius and while I don't think everything described about me is really accurate there is a lot of haunting things that are rather alarming and accurate. But do the research your self man and make your own conclusions after all personal experience is the best way to find out and at the end of the day at least when someone talks about it you will know what the hell they are saying.

2)What I have found so far that has been most beneficial for me in my life is to realize that having a outer locus of control and blaming situations or other people for where I am in life is only going to continue to set me back...
Accepting that I am the one in control of ultimately what happens to me now...accepting a central locus of control and focusing on what I can do to change my future has really made all the difference in the world for me. I don't look at a situation and say why did he have to do that or why does the world have to be this way... I think how could I have done that differently to get the desired outcome I am trying to achieve... What could I have done differently as person to have helped benefit the situation.

Hey, thanks for such an honest answer.

With astrology I find I have my suspicions, but yeah, I also have this little niggling feeling that there is something to it that holds some truth. I enjoy reading about astrology, although have only been interested since very recently, so I need some time to do my research hehe.

The second answer I loved. Many times I have spoken to people who feel they are victims of the world, universe or whatever...being responsible hurts, but also it is power - not a world domination power- but it gives you a sense of self control and detachment, a sense of independence and strength.

First, please allow me to congratulate you on your reading list above. I think I've never met anyone under the age of 40 to have read the great philosophers above and that on their own volition! WOW! BRAVO! I've only read half of them, generally in courses, as an obligation, with a proverbial whip at my back, and only appreciated their value many years later...

1) I turned to Astrology in an attempt to better understand a man - not just any man mind you,but a Capricorn man! This explains my "hanging around" this forum. The irony of the story is that in my feeble attempt to understand the intricate workings of the male Capricorn mind, I learned more about myself. I learned things about myself that I always knew, but never really understood. Suddenly, I found reasons "why I am the way that I am". You start by asking the question: What does the truth mean to you? Well... I guess you could say that thanks to Astrology, I learned the Truth about Who I am and Why I am Who I am. I now believe more than ever that who we are is literally "written in the stars".

2) The truth in life that has allowed me to dig a steady path is that of FAITH in the Almighty Supreme Being (Whoever or whatever you choose to call him/her/it). Now I'm not talking about the born again type of stuff. I was born once and that's enough for me... I'm talking about a fundamental faith in that comes deep from within. It's really an ironic thing coming from me. I tend to me a pessimistic person by nature. I see the world in shades of grey and the glass as half-empty. And yet, some how, through all the misery and ugliness that I see through my negativistic eyes, I still manage to find that sense of faith that somewhere, somehow, something exists beyond our simple human realm, beyond our 4 dimensions of space and time, that understands what is good and right and will make it so.

Some how I think that astrology does help to "delimit" ones personality, although I'm weary of this because I don't know how much is truth and how much is "wanting" it to be true, so I think this astrology thing takes time...

I agree that Faith is really important, even if it is not of the religious type. And faith is, sometimes, finding flowers in a big heap of garbage, without faith I don't think you can see them 😉...and there are so many!

Thanks again for the answer :-), i??t reall

I honestly dont remember why I turned to astrology. As far as help, it gave me something to identify with..Capricorn...but its been more of a hinderance imho. Im like Stillwater on wanting to be free of limits, and nothing is more limiting than getting caught up in this sign and its basic descriptions.

I use to be a truth seeker, but unfortunately, I dont seem to absorb information like most normal people, which simply means not much "sticks." With that being said, I've had to take another route, which was.....me. I feel, I drift, I observe, and I come to my own conclusions about life. Funny thing is, Ill think of something, and mysteriously get directed to those that have thought similar in the past, or present. Love when that happens.

I think we are linked too. Imo isolation breeds depression, as well as create missing links. I think if people stepped outside of themselves more...connected with people, neighbors, etc.. We'd start to create a positive energy flow, and possibly our unity/connection would represent
HIM as a whole. I think so many bad things happen because of the negative energy/vibration due to missing links. People who've withdrawn too far into themselves with no support system to pull them through. These are fathers, mothers who basically birthed resentment, and a vicious cycle begins. Sometimes I step outside and literally feel this negative energy. So many of our missing links homeless on the streets, in shelters, on the darn internet all day lol.
