Dreams about Mother...are they premonitions??
the intense sorrow could be feelings that are buried deep within you that you may not even feel or be aware of during the light of day, or perhaps you may block them out, i don't know, but i suspect when we are asleep our minds relax and thats when i think these feelings can surface. my mother passed away some years ago, but shortly after her death i kept having these dreams that she was trying to contact me to tell me something. in one i was walking through a forrest and there was this old fashion'd telephone ringing beside the footpath. when i picked up the reciever, it was my mother telling me she was waiting to go, and that i had some sort of duty to attend to so she could move on with her mind at rest. perhaps it was making sure my youngest brother was looked after (he was 16 at the time) i don't know i can only guess but i had lots of dreams like that for a while. some of them were really upsetting.
another reacurring dream i have is of me travelling 200 miles to purchase the house i lived in as a kid. i've had that same dream many times.
some dreams make no sense at all (usually when we're over tired or overworked i find) others seem to evolve out of our sub-conciousness.
one thing is for sure, they can be both delightful and unsettling.
