There were all these animals in a cage and I put all these other smaller ones in for them to feed off. It was savage and it took a while for the prey to be killed and eaten, they were crying out and bleeding and being attacked but also trying to fight back. i walked around and wasn't feeling anything...until one of them escaped and I saw it running away half chewed up. I looked back at the cage and there was a dead half eaten bloody rabbit and that's when I felt really bad.

So my book that I found tells it like this...

Animals in dreams are about survival instincts aimed at securing food, shelter, territory, mating, offspring and safety. The cause may be obvious, you may have lost an income, partner, home and you may be wondering how you are going to survive, physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. Or the cause may be more subtle, perhaps you are feeling that you're losing hard won territory in a working relationship of feeling insecure about a big change in your life. Also says to refer to another tip...Pain and Hurt...

Physical or emotional pain in a dream, betrayal, heartbreak, anguish, abandonment, regret, guilt, shock, devastation.

When you feel physical pain or emotional pain in a dream, it usually relates to emotional hurt you are carrying.

Celebrate any dream that reveals pain or hurt because it is an opportunity to acknowledge and release your hurt from its hiding place and to heal and move on.
