Well, I don't know actually; I've not familiar with Rock Hen or Squab. They both sound kind of scary to me.

And I always sort of hate myself when I eat duck, because ducks are so cute and I love them (I'm literally fascinated with them when I see them swimming in ponds and such. Always I feed them bread and watch their little feet swimming away...and I love when they dive headfirst into the water to get a piece of bread and their little butts are sticking straight up as well as their feet. So cute!)--anyway, I've only eaten duck a couple times in my life, and it was chickeny, but I felt guilty about eating it afterwards.

Rock Hen is a small bird you can get in the frozen food department. I got it because 2 each were just the right size for 2 persons. (I was on a cooking jag.) It just got me thinking. Like.. what IS Mock Turtle? What IS artificial Snow Crab made of, really? We tend to hide taboo gastronomical things we like with nice names. "Veal Parma (Koff!) can't spell.. is GREAT. It bothers me not that I'm eating baby Eslie. (Moooo.) Uhm.. "Escargot".. Ick. Fried callamari. I do understand about the duck thing. Chickens, on the other hand, are quite nasty. See their barnyard behavior and you'd never eat another one. Ditto Hotdogs. (Which..is really ok.. I like sodium glutanate and red dye #7..)
