Hey Mike,
Think I can help you here.
And FWIW, I have had the same type of scenario you are in, but with a father figure in my life who is a Virgo, who are known for their critical nature and striving perfection. Thank your lucky stars your Mother Figure is a Gemini! 😉
Ok, we Gemini's are very inquisitive. I read A LOT, both online research including everything that intrigues my mind...Conspiracies to history to science to religion etc. I can't get enough info. It's a daily quest.
Do you know what type of books she likes to read or what interests intrigue her? If you know or can find out in a subtle manner, I'd definitely start with a book that covers a topic she would enjoy. I'm currently reading a book about how the real Paul McCartney was killed in the car wreck in 1966 and replaced with another look alike who was a better musician.
I don't know what her interests are, you did mention cooking.
My husband a fews ago bought me some really cool cook books. Each book covered a specific food item and meal prep. IE: Bread, Pasta, Veges, Beef, Chicken etc.
How's her kitchen in terms of up to date cooking wear and/or items to make her cooking more fun and more flexible?
I just bought some new diamond skillet pans that came in 4 sizes that won't burn anything, are stick free and very durable vs. older pans. Or other new cookware. check out Williams and Sonoma and Bed, Bath and Beyond.
I got stuck making Christmas cookies for my husband's office this year, so I needed a good mixer. I bought one of the very cool new KitchenAid Stand Mixers. These babies are amazing and so easy to use. Yea, they're not cheap either, but not knowing what you want to spend, any woman who loves to bake and cook would LOVE this Mixer!!
Any cook can always use a new, sharper set of knives. A quality set isn't cheap, but it's worth it. You can't slice and dice with a cheap, dull set.
I just bought some new summer themed placemats for my kitchen table. Any woman who loves to cook and set a table would love some cool new placemats.
Does she love pasta? You can buy those home made pasta machines.
Is she a coffee lover? I just bought a new coffee maker that allows me to make pretty much everything Starbucks does. Maybe that would be to her liking?
Does she grill outside? This might be too pricey, but an Infrared grill is the bomb! It completely changed my way of cooking throughout the summer.
You say she's religious. Do you have a Parables store where you live? We have won in our city and they are awesome to shop for any type of religious item from books, music, dvds to jewelry. http://www.parable.com
I love spending time in my home as well and one thing I absolutely am crazy about are candles. Does she like her home smelling like summer or rain? There are some great scents out now at any store that carries Yankee Candle. Some of the beach type scents are amazing and always makes my home smell so good!
Does she like great smelling lotions? The Body Shop or Bath and Body Works are perfect for that.
Does she like plants? If so, something like a tropical plant as a pigmy date palm is cool in the home. I have 3 that thrive in my home as long as they get some indirect light. Another idea would be an orange, lemon or lime tree. I have a small orange tree that I bring inside during the winter and now it's on the deck.
Since it's late spring and summer is just a month away, if she loves tropical flowers, get her a hibiscus. They are the flowers you see in Hawaii and look very cool when blooming. Mine's on the deck right now and it keeps popping new blooms all summer long.
Does she like TV and movies since she enjoys being at home? Give her a 6 month or year's subscription to Netflicks if she doesn't have one and loves to relax in front of the TV.
Does she clean her own home? I did up until two years ago when I decided I'm too busy with work and kids to mess with cleaning. Maybe you could give her a gift of a professional cleaning service for a few months or so? Nothing nicer than when you come home from work exhausted then stepping into your home and it's clean, smells fresh and looks welcoming. In other words, better than when you left in that morning!
Those are just some ideas off the top of my head based upon your description of her. Good luck and whatever you decide, she will appreciate it I'm sure. Gemini's really love the thought behind a gift and it touches are heart. It's not the amount of $ $ you spend either. It's the thought knowing it would help her do things she enjoys. She will appreciate your kindness more than you will ever know.
Years ago the Virgo guy I mentioned gave me a personalized cross pen. That had so much meaning behind it, in turn, I gave him the same thing with his name on it a few years ago after not seeing each other for 20 years. It really touched his heart.
In the end, it's about the thought you put behind the gift, no matter if it's for a Gemini, virgo or anyone.

Posted by LadyNeptuneI hate gifts. I have everything I need. I don't want anything. How can anyone know what to give me if I myself don't know! Also I can't make happy face when I receive something I don't want don't need don't like. Opt for flowers. Not peonies though! Makes me sick!Posted by GemitatiThe woman in question is a gemini.
