What do you think?

I used to believe in soulmates...but then I became really cynical.
I almost think the idea of soulmates is one of those myths (along with marriage) created to keep women monogamous i.e. past paternity paranoia - a man can't be certain he's the father of his children so he needs to create a motivation for the woman to remain faithful - the whole romanticization of a property contract between the genders.
If you have your sights set on the one perfect fantasy partner, then it's a pretty high standard to live up to and both people can wind up disillusioned and unhappy.

I believe in lots of different soulmates - one for every occasion/situation/period in ones life. It seems a lot less stressful that way.

damn, cortica you figured out our scheme, in the year of 1643 the males of this planet all came together and decided that we need to implement a plan to enslave women into monogamy. we decided that the far fetched idea of a soulmate would work very well on your weak primitive minds and that we would all be able to sleep well at night knowing that you were dreaming of us, your soulmate. lol

Yes I do believe in them but I tend to agree with Cortica.

I believe we have many soul mates and indeed we may travel throughout existance in groups not just in pairs once we find each other.

I live with two people I went to bording school with and even though I don't have any problems with my family in terms of blood i.e mom dad and sisters I tend to seek their advice first and understand them just as well if not better than my blood family.

Now I don't know for sure but because of literature I have read I believe these people may have been with me as soul mates in previous lives, and we still to this day share and find empathy in each others company.

i guess it depends on ones own personal definition of what a soulmate is to them. for cortica it is one for every situation\occasion\or period in ones life which sounds like a lot of people over the course of a lifetime. not that she is wrong in thinking that way. that is her personal interpretation of what a soul mate is to her. i was kinda kidding with that post. i personally believe that a person can have more than one soulmate, but that it is a connection that transcends periods\ or situations in life. not all soulmates are meant to be together either. mine just got married saturday, and i am very happy for her. no matter what happens in our lives we will always be there for each other. she knows me as well as i know myself and likewise with her. its a connection that is almost immposible to put into words but is felt to the very core of our souls. i love my soulmate and the beauty of it is that we will feel this way regardless of marital status or situation. when two soulmates decide to merge and share the rest of thier life together physically and emotionally, that is true love. at least that is what it means to me.

As long as you're happy Luz it doesn't matter what it's called.
I have to apologize for the cynical nature of my relationship posts as I've just ended a relationship that dragged on way too long.

Subsequently, LOL, I'm in that mind set where I think nobody can be happy unless they're single and love is nothing more than an uncomfortable delusion destined for failure!

Woo-Hoo! 🤢gt;

dont sweat it cortica, we've all been there. i actually have just ended a relationship like that also and it is very draining. although i know that there is someone for everyone, i too just want to be happy right now. hang with friends, enjoy yourself and recharge your soul. since i have a pretty good idea of your personality ie: sun, rising, and moon signs, i dont think that will be a problem. 🙂

Soulmates are in fact a dream that is possible in a realistic world. I found mine...but for reason unbeknownst to me they could not see beyond the realism and dream the dream. That mate is a gemini, the one sign that believes solely in love which comes through friendship and the possibilty of soulmates are true and real. In this case, their logical side overpowered their thinking...another situation of a gemini. I will always be ready for this person to enter my life again, but until then I cannot fathom trying to win them over, for that is self defeating. I am reaching out to all gems, please open your mind to this at all times, and through logic out the window sometimes. A unclinging cancer, believe it or not.
