Incidentally, whether it was to be Obama or Romney... the result would have been exactly the same... they had most of the same corporate sponsors !
Logic like that is what allows these guys to continue to skate when they pull these stunts. It has to stop somewhere and they have to be held accountable.click to expand

You know... I have often wondered if all of this GMO shit that people are eating is responsible for America being the most obese country in the world.
Ten of the more ocmmon GMOs are : Corn, Soy, Cottonseed, Papaya, Rice, Tomatoes, Rapeseed (renamed canola), Dairy products, Potatoes, and Peas.
Monsanto has there nasty hands in just about everything... Round-up proof Alfalfa for example, resistant to Round-up made by Monsanto. It is likely the cows are now eating Round-up. They also created a wonderful chemical known as Agent Orange. A company that specializes in death has no business producing food.
I am curious now... what is the reason behind GMO Salmon ? Are they being oil-spill proofed or something now ?
Incidentally, whether it was to be Obama or Romney... the result would have been exactly the same... they had most of the same corporate sponsors !

Btw, did you also know that LBJ was supposed to be riding in the car with him, and begged off with some excuse the night before? That little tidbit makes the plot thicken quite a bit, doesn't it 🙂
Sorry, back to GMO now everybody 🙂 lol
One of the best ways to fight back against Monsanto is to just learn how to raise some of your own food. It's a great skill, will save you money, is DEEPLY satisfying to the soul, and you can do something whether you live in a high rise apartment with a balcony, or on a 10,000 acre spread in the Western USA. Buy some non GMO seeds, and a good book to teach you how to turn them into food for your table, using nothing but a pot if need be! It doesn't seem like much if you are just raising a few tomato plants on a balcony, but just by that simple act you are doing the following, each very important:
1) Supporting small companies that are NOT owned by Monsanto and their ilk, that are striving to provide heirloom (non-GMO) seeds and remain profitable.
2) Learning a valuable skill. If you can raise 2 or 3 small tomato plants and some lettuce on a balcony, you can raise an acre of it the same way... with a lot more work though lol... if you ever get a patch of land.
3) Taking up a hobby that will relax, nourish, educate, and enrich you all at the same time. There is something very deep inside of all of us that derives a kind of peace from working in the soil... even just a humble balcony planter. Try it and see.
4) Saving some money. Even a couple humble Brandywine tomato plants will give you lots of tomatoes for your table, and considering prices at the store, it adds up.
Here are some sources of seed that I like to buy from, and have found to be reliable:
Victory Seeds: www.victoryseeds.com
Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds: www.rareseeds.com
You will find just about anything you could ever want at those two links. Next up... I'll provide some links to a couple good books.

Yes I remember Coca-Cola. I used to love it, I weened myself off of any kind of soda drink. What is HFCS? Does all food taste better in Europe? 🙂 I was told by a few Germans that American food is awful. LOL
Yes Cancer is a multi-billion dollar business. I've been hearing that there is a cure but don't see an official "cure" coming anytime soon. It's unfortunate so many people have to die in order to make others rich.
Ideas of population control has supporters like Bill Gates, Ted Turner and David Rockerfeller. They are using vaccines to reduce population and claiming to improve health; which would receive a lot of supporters. Because everyone wants good health right? It's not about money, it's about control, these people are already rich.

Spend the money to get Baker Creeks' catalog, I think it's 4 bucks. Order it now, so you can look through it and pick what you want. Their catalog is this big, gorgeous, full color thing... you will keep it handy to look through in your spare time.
Some stuff they carry that interests me:
Arikara watermelons - an old variety from North Dakota, grown by the native americans there in times past. The vines produce these small single-serving sized watermelons, cut it in half, grab a spoon, and dive in.
Dessert King Yellow Watermelon - Never had one before, but a good friend of mine from Arkansas says they raised them when he was a kid, and it's the most flavorful watermelon he's ever had.
I don't remember the variety, but they also have these really interesting long tomatoes, for slicing, if you like lots of slices of tomato that are roughly of equal size, and some varieties specially developed for canning whole if you would like to can whole tomatoes for winter cooking.
Something you might really like is the "Tom Thumb" variety of lettuce. It's a buttercrunch variety, and at least old enough that Thomas Jefferson raised it. Few know this these days, but among his many talents was a great talent for farming, and developing better crops. Tom Thumb lettuce forms a neat little head about the size of a man's fist. JUST enough for you to pick a head and make one good big salad for yourself with it. It takes a little longer to grow than many other varieties, but imho it's the best lettuce I've ever had.
Buying a small farm so I can grow my own non-GMO food and have some elbow room is one of my most cherished dream. It will be happening in the next few years.
Lunarmaiden if you would want to start a thread dedicated to fighting GMO by growing your own, I'll gladly put my Merc in Sag to work message-bombing it if you'd like?

HFCS is High Fructose Corn Syrup... which is not good for anyone... and since it is mostly coming from GMO corn... I don't imagine it to be any healthier.
Yes... everything tastes better in Europe. I went to the US for Christmas a year ago... had a traditional turkey dinner (a turkey here is half the size as it is in the US) ... I had one plate... it really didn't taste as good as I remembered it to taste... so going for seconds and thirds was pointless. I was there for 3 weeks... and in 3 weeks I gained 3 kg (about 6.6 lbs)! Mind you, I didn't eat any more than I normally do, so what was the problem ? It took 3 months for that extra weight to come off after resuming my normal activities.
Just to list some of my personal 'favorites':
Donald Rumsfeld is 80, Larry Silverstein is 82, George Soros is 82, Alan Greenspan is 86, Queen Elizabeth II is 87, George Bush I is 87, Henry Kissinger is 89, and David Rockerfeller is 97 ! C'mon ! Some of these people have got to be kicking the bucket soon, no ?click to expand

Tell President Obama and the FDA you won't eat GMO salmon!
Right now President Obama and bureaucrats at the FDA are preparing to unleash genetically engineered salmon on the market. After years of controversial regulatory review, this past week, the Obama administration cleared a final hurdle for AquaBounty??s GMO salmon to be approved at any moment.
On Friday, December 21st, 2012, FDA bureaucrats declared that AquaBounty??s GMO salmon poses no —significant?? risk to the environment. This recent FDA decision comes on top of the agency??s 2010 declaration that the GMO salmon were safe for humans to eat, despite no independent long-term studies. Once again, the FDA is putting corporate science over public health.
If approved, AquaBounty??s GMO salmon would be the first genetically engineered animal to be sold for human consumption and could appear in restaurants and supermarkets as early 2013.
We can't allow this to happen. Tell President Obama and the FDA that you won't eat GMO salmon!
