Feast or Famine

I was watching Nat Geo on Netflix the other day and the show was about Tigers. The narrator started talking about "big cats" in general. He said it is usually feast or famine with all big cats. There is no in between. They wait until they are starving before they go looking for food.

This prompted me to think about my own life being a cat and all. Surprisingly this is true for me;

My gas tank is either full or the low fuel light is on. I don't even know how it gets so low sometimes.

I either have an extra $ 1000.00 in my bank account or I am completely broke.

My fridge either has so many groceries in it that things fall out when I open the door or there is one lonely egg in the carton.

All my clothes are clean or they all are dirty. I literally wait until I have nothing to wear before I wash. Which means I have 7 or 8 loads to do.

When I first joined DXP I posted constantly. Now I rarely post.

My point is, I have no balance. I'm either all in or I am completely out.

Do you have balance?

Perhaps it's not bad but I am not convinced it's altogether healthy either. There should be a medium somewhere. To use your food example if I wait until I'm starving, I don't make the best choices because when you are starving even McDonalds tastes good. I did not mean that literally.

Sometimes we can be starving for more than food. I think a lot of people here are attention starved and therefore make some of the choices they do. Any attention is better than no attention seems to be the mindset.

All of this is true for me, but I am extremely happy with myself and in my madness - I live the way I live, my Taurus is driven demented and cannot understand why everything is left to the last minute, drop, extreme 'specially the petrol and food situation. He doesn't understand that it doesn't cause me a moments fret, in fact I find it very energising to have to do something *right now* when i could have foreseen and organised before the point of danger 🙂

@ Celtic You know what is so strange...I have never known any other way. I have always been this last minute, work better under pressure, now or never type. It is really all I have ever known.

It never occurs to me that this is not the way the rest of the world operates until an Earth sign looks at me like "you can't be serious". It's always an Earth sign too.

@ Seraph I'm still on the fence about whether or not I want to change. I'm secretly in love with me. 😉

Happy DXP anniversary.

@ both of you....it must be a first Decan thing. 😄

Thanks for the compliment. Maybe I can find part time work as a "topic creator if I need to".

I watched the video Seraph. We are amazing. Thanks.

I never thought of my behavior as procrastination. I suppose it could be viewed that way. I just assumed I was lazy because truth be told I can be very lazy. However, you want me in your fox hole.

If it's going down...you want me there. I seriously think better and make better decisions when making a good decision is all that matters.

That adrenaline rush you speak of Lileo is as necessary to me as air. I also think this is why people accuse us of being dramatic or drama queens. It is not drama we desire it is that "other feeling". I don't know the hunt, the chase, the thrill whatever you call it.

Since I am on my psycho babble bandwagon this morning...I also think it is why we disappear, cheat, flirt, start arguments for apparently no reason whatsoever and all those other behaviors that are less than attractive...simply put we need friction because friction causes fire and fire is heat and heat is passion and passion is exciting and excitement is what we need. Some less than others but we need it.

Yet you're hear, aren't you? You're ok. You've made it this far, as you are.

If you look at the way a Lion Pride hunts and lives, that is *always* the way they've hunted and lived. It's completely normal for them. And if you think about it, it's eminently sensible: Big Cats on full stomachs aren't *hungry*. Full bellies are nice for laying in the shade and full body licks. And there's a time for that. But for Lions there *must* be that swing between feast and famine. First, it's unavoidable anyway. A Lion's natural habitat is what it is, and it's really the only place they can hunt the sort of big game they need. The Pride needs calories, and lots of it. But hunting skills and feline senses are not built or sharpened by perpetual satisfaction. There must be hunger. There must be a "drive" there. Empty stomachs actually sharpen senses. There's no impediment. Empty stomachs allow for quick movement and the ability to execute the tactics required to bring down big prey. There's no fatigue or "brain fog."--

So that pendulum swing between feast and famine aint all that bad after all. If you've integrated into your life and can live alright by it, you've got all the balance you need. 😉

"There must be hunger."

Yes. So true. Passing along to fellow Leos.

This post is absolutely accurate for me.
