so if you think about it, the internet is the teleportation of knowledge. psychadelic, isn't it?
teleportation!
Beam me up Gwenny! =)
lol would you settle for just downloading your brain?
.. I Would like little microchips to let you do things, ala Matrix.. fly planes, etc. Cyborg stuff, that. Or just experience the dreams of others, like the old "BrainStorm" movie. Gwen.. yours would be interesting.
Why thank you espernaut, but I think my "awake dreams" are far more more interesting.
Now, what would be really cool is if we had some sort of device to strap onto one's head which projects the images in their minds into like a three-dimensional hallogram with sound and colors but not smells because that just doesn't work.
Why so? I assume you mean in a wakeful state? And projected in a room at large for..? mass consumption? You wanna be a Dreamer Muse? Cyber Goddess? Refining my first topic.. you want this in real time, versus.. "saved to tape".. The awake dreams, yes. About experiencing dreams (above) I meant to say reliving "experiences" of others. Did you ever see Brainstorm? Men & women could experience what it felt to be the other sex, people could "feel" what it felt to step on the moon, etc. Can't help it Gwen, I plug books shamelessly.. You'd enjoy all the William Gibson Neuromancer type books.. Japanese influence/cyber hacker's/biomechanical implants..etc.
I only meant that my waking dream in my "world" are far more creepy, amazing, confusing, and there is much more to it than fleeting images of regular dreams. Dreamer Muse has a nice name to it : ) I'd save it to tape because I don't think anyone but myself would understand how the "end" of the story works with the beginning or the fake ending....all very confusing. I really should write a series of fantasy/sci fi novels about this.
Have you seen Existenz? I never saw Brainstorm but I tell you, if there is ever a game/cyber outport to which we could plug our minds to in order to experience things not possible in our everyday lives, I will formerly become a hermit and spend my days in a cyber world in which I am goddess or catburglar (i haven't decided which). As you can tell, I have spent a lot of time thinking on this subject.

I haven't heard of Strange Days before but now I'll be sure to see it 🙂
I missed Existenz (as in unaware it existed) I will go get it as well.. Hard to find good sci-fi. Sweet-P's right about Strange Days, you'll love it Gwen. It's got more edge than BrainStorm. (the former has Christopher Walken tho, my bud.. scary boy.. Sleepy Hollow / the Hessian)
I think MorganofMind mentioned Dark City also. Another goodie.
hmmm.
movies i havent' seen

I tend to see many more movies at home James.. after they've made to VHS or DVD. There are only a very few that "need" the big screen to be fully enjoyed. Most of them are quite fine to see at home, in your best chair, etc. You'll get to see them. Just keep a list. (I do) 🙂
The best purchase you will ever make when it comes to home entertainment is to buy Tivo.
My family has satalite though... It really helps if you have all the movie channels.
But isn't there a point.. where you've really seen them all.. every one.. and rapidly? Afterwards, isn't it just another "can't find anything to watch?" You can tell I don't have satellite, but feel I'm missing something.
yes... there is that point... but I ment for the movies.... because you can really keep up on all the movies that way.
and I think I've officially seen every single episode of the Simpsons several times over...
You sound like my boss..the South Park rabid fanatic. grin
hmmm... well... I don't watch South Park... Hmmm...
Don't... Save your mind.
Name some fav's.
hmmm... besides farscape and the simpsons...
I actually don't watch TV very much... Too many reality tv shows, which bore me... I just can't sit there in front of it for very long, I always have to get up and walk away, I actually wont miss tv that much at college.

I agree, the reality thing's quite saturated now. There are no sitcoms I can relate to anymore either. TLC, Discovery and History channel are just about all I like, and those have their limits. Besides, in your case.. you'll be studying, marching in protests.. tossing bricks.. lots of fun things.
Damned reality TV shows!!! *tosses brick*
That was good.. unexpected. So tell me.. what's a mute protest? A mob of angry mimes carrying blank signs or what?
lol... pictograph protest...
like very upsetting charades
